The Boathouse is a gorgeous, well equipped, studio. It's in a stunning location on the beach front in the beautiful village of Bonchurch. Being on a private cul de sac, which finishes a few yards away on the beach, it is extremely quiet and safe. From the front of the property there are uninterrupted, constantly changing, sea views and there is nothing like sleeping to sound of the waves. Monks Bay is one of the Islands best kept secrets, with its mixture of sand, pebbles, delightful rock pools and safe swimming. Bonchurch is known for its temperate climate and during a hot week you may not want to stray from this perfect spot. As well as a perfect spot for that summer holiday, it is an excellent base for out of season breaks. The island is well known for its mild spring, autumn and winters which are wonderful for excellent walking, discovering cosy pubs and sampling some of the islands delicious, award winning restaurants.. Year round the Island has many exciting family attractions.

Bonchurch is a beautiful village on the south east coast of the Isle of Wight. It is surrounded by the beautiful St Boniface Downs which tower up high above its coastal location, protecting it from adverse weather, giving it its wonderful temperate climate. Located on the coastal path, there is mile upon mile of beautiful coastal and inland walks literally on your doorstep. Bonchurch lies between two bigger sea side resorts, Shanklin and Ventnor, both a beautiful 20 minute walk away (Ventnor can be reached by bicycle along the sea wall in ten minutes). Both resorts have sandy, award winning beaches and delicious eateries. Bonchurch beachfront itself consists of a pottery, 5 houses and the boathouse. There is a further newly refurbished contemporary brasserie in the village and a fantastic famous village pub. The famous sailing resort of Cowes is 35 minutes by car and the rest of the island and it's wonderful attractions can easily be reached by car or by bus.

Notes: The boathouse is ideal for 2 adults with a choice between a ground level sofa bed or a large mezzanine sleeping level with restricted ceiling height. A further two children can be accommodated on either bed, but as the area is open plan and the beds are doubles, I wouldn't recommend older children or extra adults. The kitchen is equipped for 4. However, if the weather is good you won't be spending a lot of time indoors!.......The boathouse has been refreshed for 2012 with a new TV/DVD, an mp3/ipod dock, a new and comfortable sofa bed, a new fridge, a new microwave and new bed linens and towels...........

If romance for you is blustery walks by the sea, few pads are better-placed than this. A cute chalet with french doors opening straight on to decking overlooking the beach at Monk's Bay (but on a private cul-de-sac, so no danger of passers-by knocking on the door and asking for a nose around) it's a little gem for beach lovers. The bed is on a raised platform – watch your head – and the living area is pretty compact so this is not a place for lounging around of an evening. For a good dinner try the Spyglass Inn (thespyglass.com) in Ventnor, a 20-minute walk away, or for a treat the Michelin-starred Hambrough (robert-thompson.com/restaurants/the-hambrough), also in Ventnor.

there is not an inch of wasted space in this tiny but creatively furnished converted boathouse. All white-painted wood and classic English seaside décor, i think it has everything you need for a beach shack holiday. there’s a large double bed perched on a mezzanine above an open-plan kitchen/dining/living room with a tv, sofa bed and bathroom. the private decked terrace is right on the quiet sandy beach of Monks
bay and the isle of Wight coastal path. The Boat House, Monks Bay, Bonchurch, Isle of Wight.

small but cozy and very tastefull

we loved the little boathouse - it has everything that is needed for 2 people to be comfortable and to be right by the sea was lovely
the only thing missing really was some advice on local facilities like nearest shop, pub, supermarket, petrol station and recycling facilities.
the village shop seems to have closed down long ago and so we asked local dogwalkers all the questions and made friends with their dogs in the process
we did a lot in a week: coastal walks, Donkey Sanctuary, Garlic Farm, Osborne House, Carrisbrooke Castle, Shanklin Chine and Ventnor Botanical Gardens - all interesting - lunch at the Garlic Farm is wonderful and highly recommended
all in all we enjoyed staying there very much and have already recommended it to friends

Beautiful place if a little chilly

The Boathouse is absolutely gorgeous, in a perfect little spot that would be fantastic in Summer. It is fully equipped with a comfy bed and everything you could possibly need. It was clean and well maintained.

We had some initial problems getting the hot water turned on, the owners were very apologetic, and eventually on the second day of our stay we had lovely hot water.

The only problem was that we visited the Boathouse on the coldest few days of the year so far. It was absolutely freezing and unfortunately the place only has one electric heater in the main room (which was cranked up full each time we returned to the property). The weather was completely abnormal (a horrible easterly wind from Siberia made everything seem very much colder than it was) but it might be an idea to have additional heaters on offer for out of season breaks, particularly in very cold weather.

The Pond Cafe in Bonchurch is highly recommended, as is the Bonchurch Inn. The locals were super friendly and really helpful (the bar maid even lent us her mobile phone so we could call the owners about the hot water - note that Vodafone coverage in Bonchurch is non existent!). The co-op in Ventnor has everything you'll need for self catering, and the Spyglass on the Esplanade serves huge well cooked portions of food.

All in all we had a great time, but just wish we could have been a lot warmer!
