Nothing left to be desired
We stayed in La Grange in July, 2011 and enjoyed our time there very much. Tony and Madeleine are very considerate, welcoming hosts, always willing to help and to introduce visitors to the region. Having lived there for many years, they have a profound knowledge of culture, cuisine, politics and whatever else one might be interested in.
The gites lies in some distance to their house, with its own gate, so we also privacy and our own space. We found the gites to be clean and very comfortable, there was nothing we missed. We tremendously enjoyed swimming in the pool on hot days, we also (most untypically) had two rainy days that we spent snuggled up on the sittee, reading and watching DVDs.
Lourdes and the Pyrenees, even Toulouse, the "ville rose" are within easy reach, you must go and see them. We liked very much the country markets, jumble sales ("attic clearances") and fetes in the villages. The area with its rolling hills is wonderful for relaxed walking, maybe cycling. We'd recommend the place not only for 55+ but also for people in their 30ies or 40ies who are looking for a laid-back, quiet holiday and want to be close to nature, experience the golden light in the evening, sunbathe, swim, enjoy good food, explore an ancient rural area.
It is really necessary to have a car at one's disposal.
