Our newly renovated cabin is sure to please. If you are looking for seclusion, this is it! We are located on a beautiful winding country road between downtown Boone and downtown Blowing Rock. (4WD recommended in the winter months). We are close to many attractions, great restaurants and shopping, yet, away from it all. Steps to one of the best hiking trails around. ..Mountains to Sea/Boone Fork loop trail is part of the Blueridge Parks trail system and right outside our front door! Locally known as 'Hebron Falls'. Spend the day exploring these beautiful trails. Pack a picnic lunch and bring your fishing pole!

Description of the cabin was accurate, but the photos don't do it justice. It is much cozier than it looks. Very clean and warm. We had the greatest meals on the deck in the trees. Nice wrap around deck and partly covered. We hiked the trails with the happy, happy dog. Owner was great and always helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone seeking some peace and quiet, but plenty to do in the area. Must recommend the Screamin' zip line tour. The guys running it are just great and views are neat. Last line is 2,000 feet long with speeds at around 60 miles per hour. Had dinner at the Canyons. Nothing fancy, but good food, NC Speckled Trout and great views of Linville Gorge.

Wonderful cabin!

We thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon vacation at the Gray Escape! cabin The location was just far enough out to feel secluded but a quick drive into town for dinner or shopping. We loved the feel of being up in the trees while sitting in the rocking chairs on the covered porch. And you can hear the sound of the water from the nearby creek and Hebron Falls. We will definitely visit again and plan on making this an annual anniversary trip. Thanks!

Cozy Cabin perfect for two

This place was wonderful. The cabin is really nice and very cozy it is also well maintained. It's in a beautiful location with great hiking trails that are close by. I would definitely go back and recommend this cabin to anyone.

Cute but cold...

We found the cabin quite charming and wonderfully situated for everything that we wanted to do in the area. We do however think the heat to be inadequate for colder months. Our first night was quite effected by the lack of sufficient heat and we purchased a small space heater the next day which really didn't do enough to be comfortable in the front of the cabin and then blew out when we plugged it in in the bathroom to try to get some heat in the water closet! The gas fireplace didn't really provide heat because the flu appeared broken and cold air could be felt coming in from outside.
Don't get me wrong - WE LOVED THE CABIN... we are looking forward to going back in the SPRING. = )
Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. I'm surprised that the cabin didn't stay warm enough. I have the gas fireplace on one end of the cabin and a Rinnai gas heater in the bedroom.I will have to look into the flu situation. It was a very cold winter in the mountains this year indeed!! Perhaps I will add some insulation in the attic on my annual "maintenance and spring cleaning" trip this fall. Thanks again. Patti (owner)

Great Location

My wife and I honeymooned at the Gray Escape. The location is wonderful, although not as secluded as we had hoped. We hiked a different trail everyday, and spent time strolling through Blowing Rock.

The kitchen is sufficient, the bathroom is luxurious, and the bed is sturdy and comfortable. The gas fireplace did not heat the kitchen and living area, but the gas heat in the bedroom was terrific. DirectTV meant I didn't have to miss Monday Night Football.

We were pleased with the Gray Escape and plan to return when the rhododendron are in full bloom.
