Homer Alaska is located on the South end of the Kenai Peninsula on Kachemak Bay and it is one of the jewels of the Kenai Peninsula. It is a very picturesque setting. Whether you look to the East or to the West, the view can be breathtaking.
Alaska is on the list for many to visit and sometimes it can be troubling to make the decision on where to stay. There are hundreds of Bed & Breakfast's to stay in, numerous hotels and vacation rentals to choose from. Why choose R&R; because it is as close to home as you can get while being on the road. We offer privacy, real peace and quiet; which that is hard to find now a day's, and a very convenient location when it comes to activities that you might partake in while you are visiting.
We are 3.5 miles from the center of town and another 4.5 miles to the Harbor. If you just wanted to take a hike after waking up, without getting in your car, our property abuts to some of the best hiking trails Homer has to offer. Whether you want to walk one mile or five miles, all you need are your hiking boots.
Most visitors want to fish while they are in Homer and although we do not offer any guided services, we have been living in the community since 1978 and operated charter boats until the late 1980's. This gives us the opportunity to point you in the direction you want to go without a fee.
After recreating, you will want to eat and if you want to come home and put your fresh caught fish on the grill, you can at R&R. All the amenities are provided to do just that. But if you want to dine out, my wife works at one of the finest eateries in town and has been in the service industry for 19 years, so we know where the good food is.
We have tried to make R&R affordable for our visitors, especially the ones that want to stay for awhile. If you stay for a week, we will give you one night's stay free of charge. Our prices might seem to be low, but that doesn't reflect the condition of the accommodations. It reflects our philosophy with travel. It's a price that we wouldn't mind paying if we were traveling, and it's always nice to be pleasantly surprised.
R&R is just perfect for some. We are not the fancy high end resort with a million dollar view. We are simply a quiet comfortable home away from home. I can't ever recall having one of our visitors complain about the place. So if you are coming to the Great Land and visiting Homer, please consider R&R for your stay.
R&R was built for Mother Mary and it is there that she enjoyed the last of her days relaxing and entertaining family and friends. It was her wish to share this with others and that is why R&R is the place to relax and enjoy the quiet peaceful surroundings in a wonderful Alaskan environment.
Billy first came to Homer Alaska from Oahu Hawaii on a NOAA ship as a volunteer back in the late 70's only to fall in love with Homer. He started his dream by building a two story log home in The Last Great Frontier that he and Liz call home to this day. Together they have built a life full of love, family, and friends from hard work and living the Alaskan Dream.
Both have been in the hospitality industry whether it is from Billy starting as a charter captain in the late 70's or from Liz working as a waitress for over 20 years at some of the finest restaurants in Homer. We took those talents and combined them with Mary's love of people and have built R&R for a place for visitors to enjoy.
Elizabeth Pepper purchased this apartment in 1982
It's a piece of Heaven!
For us, it's the place where you can light the sauna, go skiing on 36K of groomed trails, come back from a good ski and have a soothing steam bath all without ever having to get in the car. What more could you ask for? Whether it's hiking or skiing, it's right there in your back yard.
Great place to stay. The host and hostess were a wealth of info and made our stay very pleasant. The accommodations were very comfortable and we felt right at home. We would highly recommend this lovely place to anyone.
My husband and I were first time visitors to Alaska, and Liz has R&R nicely stocked with lots of helpful brochures and books. The apartment was very clean, comfortable for two and had a very homey feel to it. I loved the decor and music boxes, and we agreed we need to return to R&R to do some of the other things the area has to offer.
Top that off with the fact that eight nights was very reasonably priced and we would recommend staying here.
Very beautiful secluded house conveniently located to all shopping and just 10 minutes from the spit. Liz, you did a great job to decorate and keep this place in outstanding condition. We found everything we need and even more. Thank you again for your hospitality and all fishing trick that you showed us....
What a terrific apartment, with everything you need. There is even a basket of teas, coffees plus a grinder. Nicely decorated, loved the mermaid theme in the bathroom! Location is good, just above town, so you get a beautiful view of the mountains, glaciers and bay as you come down the hill each day. Know that the shower wasn't hot, but it was warm enough. Pretty deck, and the FLOWERS everywhere look fake they're so huge and colorful. I would definitely stay here again!
A nice and peacful setting. Liz was very accomodating above and beyond!
We enjoyed Homer and the fishing. We would love to come back some time to beautiful Alaska!
We spent a week at R&R at the end of May. It was just as described: private and comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped and the owner provides coffee, tea, cereal, and all the basics to cook IF you don't want to eat at Captain Patti's restaurant. Upon our arrival, a moose wandered through the yard. We then became acquainted with the local Sandhill crane family who enjoy visiting the neighbors. The apt is in a neighborhood so there is no road noise at all. It is not a sophisticated NY loft. It is comfortable and it is immaculately clean. The balcony off the living room is lovely. There is hiking out the door. I will definitely stay there again when I go back to Homer.
We are located in The Halibut Fishing Capital of the world which for those guests who enjoy fishing, is a dream come true. Not only can you fish for Halibut, Rockfish, Cod and Dolly Varden but you can also try for Salmon if you time it right. R&R is nestled in a quiet serene subdivision surrounded by spruce trees and an abundance of wildlife. We are also located right next door to the Homestead Trail which offers both summer hiking and winter cross country skiing and 3 miles from the Diamond Creek Trial that goes down to the beach. Both trails provide plenty of opportunities for sightings of wildlife and birds for those folks who enjoy getting outside and being one with Mother Nature.
