Perched on a secluded wooded hillside, this unique, well maintained, one-of-a-kind cottage has a stunning view of Pleasant Bay and Strong Island across a creek and pond laced marsh. Called “The Tea House” because of its overhanging roof and tiered structure, its living/dining room with cathedral ceiling, kitchen L and loft, seem suspended over the marsh because of the two walls of glass on the bay side. Below, three bedrooms and bath/laundry room open onto a screened walkway through large sliding glass doors which serve to maximize their views. The Tea House is located at the end of a private gravel drive 150 yards from a sandy swimming beach across a squishy marsh path (1/4 mile by road), 1 1/2 miles from the shops of Chatham, and 2 miles from the Light House ocean beach. It is ideal for families, birders, or those who simply crave quiet, natural surroundings.

Chatham is on the 'elbow of Cape Cod' midway between the bridge and Provincetown. There is easy access to Nantucket Sound, fresh water ponds, and the Atlantic Ocean, although the cottage itself fronts on the warm water of Pleasant Bay. There are extensive bike trails, kayaking, golfing and surf fishing within a few mile radius. For the less athletically inclined, Chatham hosts good restaurants, excellent shopping and a band concert every Friday night all summer. The Ohio Repertory Theatre produces a different play each week and there is always a craft fair somewhere on the Cape. Whale watches leave each day from Provincetown, and ferries provide a regular service to Nantucket and Martha Vineyard from Hyannis.

  • Master bedroom has private deck and two glass walls to allow you to awake to an expansive view of marsh and bay. Two other bedrooms have two twins each and look out at the marsh through the woods. A loft, reached by a ladder from the living area, usually serves as a hangout for teens to watch movies, but also has a futon that sleeps two.

Notes: The Tea House was built in the late 1960s and reflects the back-to nature movement. To get from the living area to the bedrooms on the lower level, you must walk outside, under the overhanging roof, and down exterior stairs. The bedrooms are located off a screened in walkway which runs the length of the house.
