We rented nearly a year ago. My intent not to post here until we were able to travel the long distance make him pay in court. We have great pictures but the TIME has just not available.
We rented last Christmas despite a bad review. He convincingly blamed the cleaning service and said all was fine. RUN, do not walk when he starts the smooth talk. He's conning you!
I traveled late Christmas Eve with brand new (untested) keys. They didn't work(!!!!) and he could not be reached so i spent the night in my truck. Christmas day after he contacted me I traveled over four hours round trip to get his keys. He traveled two hours. Real nice.
Well, relieved I finally arrived alone late Christmas day. It was filthy!. Rotted food and four month old newspaper in garbage, hair in the sinks, dirty toilets! Carpet in areas was filthy. (His reasoning was it was pet friendly.) I started cleaning and worked for three hours trying to get the place in decent shape awaiting my fiance' and step-daughter-to-be. When they arrived, they pitched in and help me finish the cleaning. OVER FOUR HOURS! (No pictures of home shown as of this date {12/15/11} wonder why??? ) He'll post something now but hear me when I tell you in this case a picture is NOT worth a thousand words. He had nice pictures posted when we rented.
He neglected to tell us the clubhouse $. and when it was time to watch a family movie the DVD player didn't work. I called: "what do you want me to do about it, come and fix it?" So, we watched movies on 17" TV in master bedroom. We actually had a wonderful visit, but it had absolutely NOTHING to do with the owner or the ammenities. We just decided to have a great vacation - our first as a "family unit". My fiance' and I are now happily married and raising a beautiful fourteen year old daughter.
He did offer -- for sleeping in my truck Christmas Eve, cleaning and sanitizing entire house, time and cost of traveling over four hours to get keys, no DVD player, and having to buy stuff for kitchen, he offered me $100.00. A HUNDRED DOLLARS!!!!!! I told him to keep it.
Again, it was SOOOO bad my intent was take him to court but, by law, court procedings must be near his home town in MD, not near Ocean View or near me in Wilmington, DE. Well, it just didn't happen so now this is my only recourse.
Folks, do yourselves and your family a favor; go find a nice place to stay. DO NOT select this cheaper, filthy place with a less than honest presenter.
