Hillside chalet with brook and large wraparound deck on acreage flanked by state forest. Mountain view, brook sounds, highly visible Vermont moon, hiking trails to Long Mountain. Open plan features enchanting kitchen design and appointments, cathedral ceiling of tongue and groove pine, loft with computer and wireless internet. Suite on upper level has queen bed and large walk-in closet, large whirlpool bath and large roof window. Washer and dryer are compartmented aside. Second bath is located on lower main floor with lower 2 bedrooms. One of the lower bedrooms has optional two sets of bunk beds (can sleep 4). This level contains family room and dining area.The large kitchen has an island that has 4 chair stools in addition to 6 to 8 chairs at dining table.

For Golfing:: Quechee has 2 championship golf courses. Woodstock and Killington have golf courses, and there is one on Route 100 North, just north of the intersection of Route 4. All within approximately 30 minutes.

For skiing:: Alpine---Killington, Suicide Six, Okemo, and Ascutney are all 30 to 45 minutes away.

Cross Country---Various nearby locations.

Snowmobile---In the immediate area, there are many trails, maintained by VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers). Rentals available at various locations. Tours available at Killington and elsewhere.

A CHRISTMAS MEMORY

Hardly a day goes by that we do not talk about the wonderful month we spent in Vermont at this home. Our children had never seen snow, and boy did they see lots of it. The place could not have been nicer. So much open space and lots and lots of windows. We would spend the morning drinking coffee and watching the birds snack at the birdhouse, while our two young children were safely playing on the large wrap around deck. There were endless opportunities for exploration around the large lot. I can only imagine how much fun we would have in the summer with the creek. Although we did have fun throwing snow and ice into the creek and watch it melt away. The house is away from any noise, you are basically the last house on the street. We saw wild turkey on morning walks. We were also centrally located to many activities and quaint little towns. The owner was so helpful with suggestions of activities, places to eat (the brewery was fabulous) and just checking in to see if there was anything we ever needed. The house was very clean and the kitchen was awesome! We made dinner every night and sat around the large dining room table. The wood burning stove was fun for making smores. We can not wait to go again and see what summer time holds for us. I hope we can get this house again because during our month stay this place became our home.

MOUNTAIN GETAWAY

If you are looking for peace and quite this is the perfect place. The house had a very nice open floor plan with a loft overlooking the kitchen and living area. The kitchen was well equipped and the pantry was well stocked. Lovely hardwood floors! Well stocked linen closets and washer/dryer in bathroom was a real plus! We really enjoyed the wrap-around deck that overlooked well maintained grounds. Our 2 dogs (Sam & Josie) also enjoyed their stay here,especially curling up at night in front of the wood burning stove. Mason, the owner, was most accommodating and extremely pleasant. He provides a lovely home away from home. The location was great to visit nearby towns and great hiking trails in Vermont as well as New Hampshire. We totally enjoyed our week had great weather and the foliage was just about peak (a little early this year). We also enjoyed dining at Rumuntos pizza at the foot of our road in the old mill. The Long Trail Brewery was also a nearby stop! The Woodstock Farmers Market is also a must. Great shops and dining just a short drive to the picturesque town of Woodstock too! We would highly recommend staying at this great place! We will return!! McClain/Quinzer Families And Sam & Josie Too!

VACATION GETAWAY

If you are looking for privacy, peace and quiet and no neighbors - this is the place for you! It was exactly as described. Nice open floor layout, plenty of towels, linens and having access to Wifi was great (although it would have been perfect not having access as well). Washer and dryer are full size which was helpful. I have two notes of comment - 1. The downstairs bunk room was extremely damp and the floor was wet most of the week. Vermont has received ALOT of rain this year and it was humid the week we stayed so it is not all that surprising, plus the flooring was laid down over top of concrete. We didn't use this room at all so it didn't affect us during our stay. The second note is that the lawn needed cut desperately when we arrived and unfortunately it was not cut until the day before we had to leave. With the high grass, and mosquitoes it made being outside in the yard less interesting for this time of year. The only other comment is the fact that you need to clean this home prior to departing. When I am on vacation, the last thing I want to do is clean a house especially when I am trying to pack and head home. Having said that, I completely understand that by having the tenants clean vs. a cleaning service it help keep the rental costs down. We have rented many homes in this area for years and this is the first time we needed to clean. Would we rent this home again? Yes, absolutely. In the Fall, I bet this is a great place to stay - sitting on the deck each morning drinking coffee looking out across the mountains was very relaxing! The owner, Mason is very accommodating and his home is comfortable!!!! For local restaurants, try Ramunto's at the Mill - you pass it on your way in and out of where this home is located. Great food and beer selection and the owner (Andy) was very welcoming. Another good place to try for lunch is White Cottage which is located on Rt. 4 East towards Woodstock. Some of the best burgers!!!! And of course, there is always Long Trail Brewery for good beer and food. We will be back!

Owner's Response: We really appreciate getting another 5 star review from our friend, this tenant. However, we need to clarify a few points: 1.-The "downstairs bunk room" is really half of the below ground basement that has been rock walled for future use as a bunk room, a project in progress (incomplete) -- thus the usual cool, damp feeling in the basement air. 2. -We have never experienced water collecting in any part of the basement from below-ground seepage, although Hurricane Diane's torrential rains from above managed to collect inside the chimney base, causing seepage into that part of the basement, compromising the adhesion of the vinyl flooring. 3.- Our grass cutting is under contract to a dependable nearby resident and had been cut on 6/17, 12 days prior to the tenant's occupancy, and was scheduled to be cut again on 7/1, 2 days after tenant's arrival. The cutting was probably delayed due to the heavy rains. 4.- We have always operated with rental agreements that specify tenant cleanup. This precludes the need to charge the tenant for a cleaning fee, although we do consider cleaning service as an option if the tenant desires it. This tenant wants to come back, and we want them back. And we'll talk before we write.

PERFECT!

Every year, I share a tradition with some friends and family to go on a ski trip to a different area of New England every year. We found this treasure in the winter of 2012 and we love it so much we came back again this year and we never want to change location again! This house has the perfect setup, with the large kitchen to cook big family dinners, plenty of comfortable beds, and wood stove for those extra chilly nights. The location is perfect, being on the end of a dirt road it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere but, its only a short drive from the house to down town Woodstock, and Killington Mountain. (about 20 min.) which makes for convenient shopping and skiing. The owner of the house is fantastic. He was excellent at communicating with me either through phone or email with information about the house or any questions I had. We hope to be back next year and hopefully many years to come!

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

We had a wonderful vacation in Vermont, enjoying the foliage. The house exceeded our expectations and the location was perfect. It was amazing how well stocked the house was with that one or two things you always ended up forgetting. No worries! The beds were very comfortable and we found ourselves so at ease in the house that it was easy to forget we didn't live there. The owner was wonderful and we would definitely consider renting this house again in the future.

GREAT VACATION

We had a great stay at this Vermont Rental House. The house is located about three miles down a stone road that dead-ends into State Forest. The house is the very last house on the left at the end of the road. We saw only one truck and two motorcycles go by the house the entire week we were there. Mostly the only noise was the sound of the stream that flows through the property. The house is about a 10 mile drive to Woodstock, which is a picture-book New England town with many good places to eat and a few little shops to enjoy. We stayed the week with our 2.75 year old daughter and my retired mother-in-law and the house worked well for everyone. Mason, the owner, called on the first full day there to see if we needed anything, which was appreciated. This is a house that I would like to rent again in the future. We considered other properties, but we settled on this one due to location, number of bathrooms (2), and wireless internet. Below are some short bullets for consideration:
- Short drives to Woodstock, Waterbury, Hanover, NH, etc provide many options for day trips.
- The lawn is large enough to throw balls, etc, even though it slopes considerably.
- The stream is very nice.
- There is good hiking via the trails through the state forest at the end of the road. You do not even need to drive anywhere to take a nice walk through the woods.
- Many great restaurants in Woodstock in all price ranges.
- Wireless high speed internet is provided in the home, which gave us use of not only the internet, but our cell phones via internet.
- Kitchen was well equipped.
- Living area was comfortable.
- Laundry in the house was very nice and washing machine and dryer were in good working order.
- Satellite TV was nice.

The front lawn on the other side of the garden provides a terrain more suitable for ball games. We have used it for volley ball in the past. Our location is about as central as you can get : 8 mi. E to Woodstock Village (specialty shopping, cultural events, galleries);continue 5 mi E to Quechee (antiques, landmark gorge, historic hydropower glass blowing factory), and another 14 mi to Hanover, NH (Dartmouth Univ). Go west to Killington (15 mi)-Northeast's largest ski area. Go south Ascutney to Echo Lake resort (fishing, boating). Ski Killington, Suicide Six (family-oriented, 4 mi N of Woodstock), Okemo (23 mi S), and Ascutney (28 mi SE). Cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling abound in the area. Golf courses in every direction; likewise dining, including local brewery pub with excellent lunch and casual eating, not to mention Ramunto's Pizza and pub at the foot of the road.. Gourmet dining is also available in the area.

Other Activities: alpine slide, snowmobiling, hiking, skiing, antiqueing, cultural activities,shopping,nature and children activities.
