Jim and Caryl have been owners of this home since September of 1996. They currently live in Hawthorn Woods, Illinois. Jim is a Fire Battalion Chief for the Village of Glenview and Caryl is a real estate broker for Hunter's Fairway SOTHEBY's International Realty in North Barrington, Illinois.
The Owner purchased this house in 1996
In 1984, Caryl's family moved to Northport and purchased the Northport Bay Boat Yard. This house sits in an ideal location on the bay. As you will agree, the views are never ending and there are none more spectacular than those from the Bight. Since 1997 we have been renting the home so others can enjoy the home, beach and the area. Until the House at the Bight becomes our fulltime residence, we escape to Northport for a quick weekend to get our 'fix' of the beautiful views of the bay.
Tranquility is the first word that comes to mind. Whether you're sitting on our private beach taking in the constantly changing views of the bay, or partaking in the water sport of your choice, nothing is better than time spent at the Bight. This original home was built in 1856. Numerous additions, renovations and upgrades have occurred since then, but the original two-story house is very visible.
My family has been vacationing for one week in the Traverse City area for the past five years. The House At The Bight was by far our most enjoyable rental. It accomodates fourteen people with ease. The large yard makes for great whiffle ball games and grilling out on the back patio makes meals easy. The beach is shallow so attending to children is not a concern. Northport is an easy distance away with plenty of places to shop and eat.
The pictures of the house are very accurate and the owner is very organized and helpful. My family and I enjoyed our stay so much that we decided to return next summer. We had decided to go somewhere different each year but House At The Bight captured us.
Our activities included walking, swimming, wine tasting, shopping, several games of whiffle ball, several cook outs, sunning at the beach. Our only complaint was the week went by so quickly. We are already looking forward to returning next year.
