The LUDLOW AND OKEMO VALLEY area has two distinctly different identities. During summer and fall it is very much identified with the string of lakes just north of the village, and as a marketplace for those residing in, or visiting, smaller neighboring communities. In winter, it is thought of as the home of Okemo/Jackson-Gore Ski Resort.

Ludlow: The Ludlow Area [Okemo Valley] is precisely what today’s visitor to Vermont is looking for - a true four-season resort area! In winter, the centerpiece of the Okemo Valley is the Okemo Mountain Resort, and it's newly opened Jackson Gore Base Area. And, although Okemo’s slopes are the main attraction during the winter months, the area is also popular for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and horsedrawn sleigh rides. In short, there's not much one could want and not find here.

Regardless of the season, you'll not be in want for places to eat. The area offers everything from candlelight dining to steak and seafood houses, Chinese or Thai food, a Subway shop and great pizza. Likewise, choices of accommodations are virtually endless and range from full-service hotels and country inns to motels, B&B’s and campgrounds. During the warmer months the five lakes immediately north of town along Route 100 become the center of attention. Our year around property, in the winter, is a SKI HAUS, 5 minutes from OKEMO and 20 minutes from KILLINGTON ski resorts. In the spring/summer/fall, it's a wonderful LAKE HOUSE (cottage/camp) on beautiful Lake Rescue, at water's edge (no stairs to walk down from main living area and beautiful, large, deck). Catch the beautiful sunrise over the lake in all seasons.

Golf: Golf at the beautiful semi-private Okemo Valley Golf Club, 2 miles away.

Ski: Skiing in Vermont...this lovely cottage is located closest to the Jackson-Gore/Okemo Ski Resort ( 2 mi) and within 20 minutes of Killington, Bromley and other great ski locations! Located off Rte 100, access to a plowed, sanded road is easy and early! The cozy great room with field stone fireplace is a great spot to warm up with a good book and an apres ski toddy. Kids and adults can play the many games located at the cottage or go ice skating, ice fishing or play hockey out the back door. Enjoy the ambiance of this winter escape while looking at gorgeous views of frozen Lake Rescue.

This ski haus is located on a paved road with early and easy access to skiing. Firewood is plentiful and the great room conducive to warming by the fire, relaxing and enjoying friends & family! Or, have s'mores at the lakeside fire pit.

Wonderful skiing vacation

My family of three and another family of four rented this property just after Christmas for a week. The living space downstairs is just perfect: the fireplace creates perfect heat and ambience; the kitchen is perfectly functional and provides all the necessary tools; the dining table is big enough to comfortably sit all the guests; and the view on the (frozen and snowy) lake is just precious.
Also, driving to Okemo (Jackson Gore base) is a breeze - 5 minutes and no traffic at all; driving to Killington takes a bit longer (about 20 minutes), but the skyeship base is very convenient - easy parking and no lines.
An excellent experience; I would definitely recommend it, and we will surely consider visiting it again in the future, both for winter and summer vacations.
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

What a nice Christmas present and beginning for 2011. We treat our ski haus and lake house like our home away from home, because it is. This year we've added wifi, high speed internet, all new small appliances, plus a new stove, washer and dryer. It makes it all worth while when we receive such a positive testimonial.

We have not kept any security deposit money, in the six years we've owned the place, because of the way our guests have treated it.

Great Ski Weekend

I stayed with 6 of my friends over President's Day Weekend. The living area and kitchen space was just what we were looking for. Great place to relax, cook, eat and hangout for the night. Location was perfect for getting to Okemo to get on the slopes early. House was very clean and maintained. Owner was very responsive and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place. Look forward to staying again sometime.
Owner's Response: We have not met Maureen or her friends, as is often the case. Still, we had excellent vibes from her as we negotiated for them to be our guests.

What a thrill to receive such a positive review. Makes it all worth while that we treat our Ski Haus/Lake House as our home away from home, which it is.

Great time!

I stayed with 3 other couples in the SkiHAUS and had a great time. Great lake front location with a small navy of boats for use. The outdoor fire pit was a great tool to keep warm while watching a meteor shower in the back yard! Close proximity to town and Okemo and Ned was great to work with. Easy as pie. I'd recommend to all. Thanks Ned!

I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful house on a beautiful lake! We had a great time cooking in the well-equipped kitchen, swimming, canoeing, and telling stories by the fire. Owners were very responsive and helpful. Five stars!

Great summer vacation for whole family

A great place for our family to get together, including grandparents, 3 active preschool boys and 2 month old infant. The open downstairs area gave boys plently of space to play when they were inside. The large deck was perfect for playing "duck, duck, moose" and rolling around ice cream making balls which we brought. Small sandy area and shallow water was a perfect place for the timid nonswimmer in the group to play and still be under the watchful eye of others jumping off the dock or swimming in deeper water. The canoe, kayaks and rowboat were a great addition that added to fun on the water. House was clean and well maintained but still had a comfortable feel to it. Kitchen was very well equipped - the only thing I was glad to have brought was waffle iron. Location was great base for touring Central Vermont. Nearby or easy drive to great hiking areas at Killington and Okemo, Buttermilk Falls with swimming holes, Quechee Gorge, cheese and maple products. Less than an hour to Montshire Museum of Science just off I-91, a wonderful hands-on museum with both inside and outside activities. Communication with the owner was wonderful. Would definitely recommend this property.
