We have just completed an extensive remodel - everything has been completely updated including new kitchen and baths, stainless steel appliances, granite, tile, carpet and paint. Our unit is beautifully decorated and has everything needed for your vacation. In addition, we have free Parking and WIRELESS internet access in unit.

Looking for a place on Maui is overwhelming, when you consider how many choices there are. There are many good reasons for choosing our condo, so let me list a few.

*We are very conveniently located on the West side, between the resort areas of Kapalua to the north and Kaanapali to the south, less than 15 minutes away from historic Lahaina town.

*Although we are close to everything, our condo is located in a quiet, residential area - so you get the feel of being a local, walking across the street to the beach, or to one of the local hangouts - like Dollie's Pub, or Maui Brewing Company (both of which are family friendly.)

*Kahana Beach is just across the street, with a local surf spot to the left and a family friendly beach directly in front, where you can often find Sea Turtles on the beach. In addition, we are within 5 minutes of some of the best swimming and snorkeling beaches in the world - Kapalua, Napili, Kaanapali, DT Fleming and Airport Beach.

*Our complex, Kahana Villas (unit F507), is not ocean front - but we are closer to the beach than many ocean front properties, and the view from our Lanai is extraordinary, with spectacular views of the islands of Molokai and Lanai.

*Our unit is very large by Maui standards at 1300 square feet, plus we have a large Lanai where you can have a cocktail or a meal and watch one of our fantastic sunsets, or whales in season.

*Our unit is well appointed with a fully stocked kitchen and full size washer and dryer. If you read our reviews, you will see that in general, people really enjoy staying with us. We try to answer your questions thoughtfully, and provide a list of places to shop, eat, buy groceries, snorkel and hike.

*Our unit is reasonably priced - for about the cost of a a nice hotel room, you get a well equipped, 1300 square foot condominium with a stunning view. We provide good value and a great base to enjoy all that the beautiful island of Maui has to offer.

*With two full bedrooms and baths and a well-equipped kitchen, this unit is ideally suited to share with another couple, or for a family vacation. Our guest limit is 4 to 5, 4 Adults or a Couple with 2-3 children.

*Amenities - Washer/Dryer in unit, Swimming Pool, Hot tub, and Tennis Courts, Barbecue Area at the pool.

*Things to consider from a suitability perspective:

The master bedroom is "loft style" which means that, while private, it is semi-open to the main living area, and noise from the main living area can be heard in the bedroom.

For Seniors and parents with small children, we would like to point out that both of the bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs. In addition, the dining table and lanai table are both high (pub style). The couch is a large, deep sectional and the master bed is a bit higher than average. As these may cause problems for people with mobility issues, we wanted to point these out.

*And finally - A note about air conditioning. Those of us who spend a lot of time on the island are not big fans of air conditioning, preferring to open the windows and let the ocean breeeze cool us down, and many of the units in our price range do not have air conditioning. We do have a nice state of the art Fujitsu ductless air conditioning unit that very nicely cools down the main living area and the master bedroom. However, the second bedroom does not have air conditioning, and relies on the trade winds and a ceiling fan for cooling. In our warmest months - July through October, this bedroom can get warm, particularly if the trade winds die down.

*We have an on island property manager to assist guests, and we happily pay all required taxes to the State of Hawaii (Hawaii Tax ID # W30250518-1)

Hi - we are Rick and Micki Jacobs, and 9 months out of the year we live in Spokane, Washington. My husband and I have a deep connection to Maui, and have been coming here for years. My husband learned to surf in Santa Barbara and Maui, just up the road from our condo. We have 5 kids (4 girls and a boy) between the ages of 25 and 35, and a young grandson. We love Maui and take special pride in our home and we offer what we think is the best way to visit Maui - from the comfort of your own special home away from home. We love the beaches here and all the water activities Maui has to offer, snorkeling, diving, fishing - and just hanging out at the beach! There are many nice restaurants close by, and lots to do nearby.

Why Micki Jacobs chose Kahana

We purchased our condominium in 1999. We love our neighborhood, and the West side. We are close to everything, but Kahana is a bit quieter than the tourist filled resorts in nearby Kaanapali, Kapalua and Lahaina. We enjoy the beautiful view from our Lanai, the ocean breeze off the water, and the pretty and private Kahana Beach, just across the street. We feel like locals when we are in Maui and hope you will too.

What makes this condo unique

Our condominium is close to the beaches and all the local action in Lahaina and the nearby resorts. Nothing on the West side is more than 10 minutes away. We take pride in our condo, and we have it fully stocked with everything you might need to make a nice meal, if you choose. Plus, Maui Brewery, Dollie's pub and other great restaurants are right around the corner, if you don't feel like cooking. You can relax at the pool and hot tub, or play tennis on our courts. Plus, staying at a condominium in Maui is a good value.

Just thought I would drop you a line and thank you for our wonderful stay at your condo. It was in an excellent location, the view was spectacular even the beach in front was better than I expected. My son got plenty of use of the boogey boards and snorkel equip. We took in several of your recommendations that you sent us. It was a great facility and we enjoyed our time there immensely. Great location!

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon in Maui which we booked this condo for! Amazing location in kahana, away from huge tourist traps yet close if we chose to go to lahina and other attractions. The beach across the street had 4 huge turtles on shore 15 minutes after we checked in! Very clean unit with tons of space and huge windows to enjoy the view and sunsets which the lani faces. Gorgeous views, nice grills at pool when you want to stay in and quiet complex I barely saw anyone around for much of our trip. The air cooled the place down quickly and tons of fans throughout the condo. The owners had a ton of recommendations in a book at the door which we went to almost all of the good recommendations and they were awesome. Overall very pleased with this condo the owners and fell in love with Maui.

couch has seen better days, time for an update

blow up mattress was the other alternative

noise, noise, noise! highway noise and endless leaf blowers and mowing

lots of stairs, seniors and toddlers beware as all washrooms, bedrooms upstairs

fortunately owner provided keycode to enter property as check in antiquated.

Owner's Response: Aloha and thanks for your feedback. The couch is relatively new, less than 3 years old - and was expensive. Most people find it quite comfortable. The pull out couch is the stardard size queen. Our unit looks out over the lower beach road, so you will hear some traffic, but generally our unit is not considered noisy. As in any complex, there will be garbage pick up and landscaping - we stayed on the Big Island last week and heard the same noise in our luxury hotel. Our unit is a townhouse style condo with both bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs, as we tell people, and that should be taken into consideration if mobility is an issue.

This is a nice condo, and the location is great.

I don’t want my comments to deter anybody from staying here; in fact, we would probably stay at this condo again. That said, the kitchen, bathrooms, and the condo generally would benefit from some updating.

And while making reservations was a breeze, I was a little surprised about receiving what felt like a lecture about electric bills when we called the owner for instructions about operating the air conditioner. The condo was quite warm when we arrived, most likely because it was warm that day and the condo had been closed up with no air circulation. As it turns out, we only needed air conditioning the first night, but the owner didn’t seem thrilled about us using it at all.

And when we requested to check out a couple of hours late on our last day (knowing that nobody was scheduled to arrive that day), we were informed there would be a $100 fee. I understand that cleaning crews have schedules, etc., but I was hoping for a little flexibility – particularly when we take extraordinary care of rental properties and we were paying peak rates on a seven night minimum stay.

Those things aside, our vacation in Maui was simply incredible, and the condo is quite adequate. The condo is close to some very nice beaches and snorkeling (e.g., Black Rock). And don’t totally ignore the beach right across the street—we saw a seal on the beach, as well as a couple of sea turtles on the beach and several swimming nearby. And bring binoculars, because there can be some good whale watching in the morning from the lanai.

It’s an easy drive to Lahaina, Kapalua, and many other great places. The condo had sufficient cooking utensils and a couple of beach chairs (that came in very handy). We thought the owner’s restaurant recommendations in the welcome packet were very good. I could go on and on about the greatness of Maui; it is a beautiful place.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, Hawaii has the highest electricity cost in the US, because most of our power is generated by burning diesel - so it is both expensive and not very eco-friendly. We are sorry if it sounded like a lecture - but we give all our guests the same helpful hints - use air conditioning sparingly, turn it off when you are gone, and be sure to close windows and doors when you use it. As for the late check-out. We are running a business, and all of our check-out cleans are scheduled well in advance by our cleaning service. Even if there is no guest checking in the next day, we schedule deep cleans and repairs and maintenance when there are no guests checking in, so there is a cost to re-scheduling. At minimum we charge $50 for a late check-out scheduled in advance, and $100 for last minute requests as our cleaning service charges us an additional $50 fee when they have to re-schedule a cleaning. In addition, the next day was Christmas Eve, not a day when our cleaning service wanted to re-schedule their people to work. Finally, our unit is clean and well maintained and priced accordingly - a fully renovated unit with our view and 50 yards from the ocean costs between $50 and $100 more a night.

Great Time in West Maui

My wife and two children had an absolute blast in Maui this July. One of the highlights of the trip was the little town of Kahana. We are so happy that we chose this condo and location. The condo was very convienent for beach activities as well as local groceries shopping. The unit was exactly as advertised. It was very clean. The full kitchen came in handy as we cooked in most nights of the trip. The Kahana Villas were well maintained. The pool area/barbeque grills were always clean. It was very quiet with no late night partying going on. Parking was always available with plenty of shade from the large trees. The complex is located just across the street from Pohaku Park (S-Turns). We saw many turtles and tons of fish right from the park without the need to pack up snorkeling gear and head to any of the more crowded snorkeling sights. Most mornings we had the place to ourselves. There are convienent stores located nearby for quick shopping. The Boss Frogs one block away was very helpful with rental gear and excursions. The farmers market was every M-W-F mornings down south on the "beach" road, and had a great selection of local fruits, breads and vegetables.

Micki was great to deal with. She was available on the couple occasions that we had questions and quickly helped resolve a missing pool key. I can't say enough good things about how pleasant Micki was to deal with. She is very organized and maintains a great unit.

We hope to get back to Maui in the next couple years and plan on renting this unit again for that stay.

Family Vacation

We can not say enough about this condo. So very comfortable from the living area to the beds. Location,location,location! Just accross the street from the beach yet far enough away from the crowds and close to so many great beaches and restaurants. All of the info given to us about where to go and where to eat we're excellent. It was also nice having a library of info about the island available to use. We would book this condo again in a heartbeat. Sunset views from the lanai were breath taking and the owners were wonderful people to work with.

We found paradise

This condo was perfect! Exactly as described, very well appointed, very clean, appreciated the extra linens, beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards and so much more! Micki the owner was wonderful to work with, always with a quick response to my emails! As a family of 4 (2 were teenage boys) we had plenty of room to relax. The lanai was my favorite place in the morning! It truly was just feet from Kahana Beach! Only a few minutes away from Napili Beach. Great place for walking and jogging too! The pool and hottub were great esp after long days in the surf. The bbq grills were very nice,clean and easy to use. Would highly recommend!! This property was less than 10min drive to Lahaina, Boss Frogs was within walking distance as was McDonalds even,lol. Being my first trip to Hawaii, I loved every minute of it!!
