Situatied .8 mile from the Cataloochee Valley National Park, Elk Point is named for the area in the park where elk have been reintroduced in North Carolina after a 200 year absence. Elk Point adjoins the Cataloochee trail and is the perfect base station for hiking in the park. Elk Point is a beautiful expansive log home on 10 private acres. The logs of Elk Point are hand-hewn with dovetail corners. The interior is all wood tongue in grove walls, floors and ceilings. At sunrise and star set you can enjoy fabulous views from the 4000 ft elevation of this house.

Elk Point is off of exit 20 on I 40, .8 miles from Cataloochee Valley to see Elk in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Maggie Valley, Cherokee, Biltmore Estate in Asheville are close by. Viewing streams/ rivers/ wildlife/ waterfalls, trout fishing, hiking trails, golfing, horseback riding, tubing on the Deep Creek branch out of Bryson City and shopping for antiques, quilts and mountain crafts are just a few favorite activities. There are many festivals held throughout the year. The fall colors are breathtaking.
