Overview

Whalley Cottage Rental Photos and Description

A stunning two bedroom holiday cottage in the heart of Lancashire's Ribble Valley, close to the village of Whalley and equipped with everything you might need to enjoy a romantic getaway or family vacation. It's ideally located to explore England and Scotland. The cottage is well connected to Manchester, London and Glasgow. There's lots to do locally, short walks, ambitious hikes - The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are also on our doorstep, as is the quaint local pub.

Calder Cottage is the perfect place from which to explore one of England's most famous landscapes. Located just 40-50mins from Manchester Airport and 25mins from Preston Mainline Railway station - it's quaint, quiet and incredibly well connected. There are two bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin), a bathroom, living room and a kitchen complete with dishwasher, washer and dryer. WiFi and Freeview also inc. There's a good sized private patio and garden, great for BBQ's and surrounded by the beautiful Ribble Valley countryside. There are no busy roads or flight paths here, but there is a local pub five minutes walk away. Local attractions include Pendle Hill and the historic village of Whalley each offering short walks or long hikes straight out of the door. You can be in The Lake District, Cumbria and The Yorkshire Dales in just 90mins by car and we'd be happy to help organise trips, travel and transport. Calder Cottage is perfect for couples or families. There is everything here to ensure you enjoy your stay.

Excellent Country Cottage.

  • 5 of 5
This was the first time we have booked a holiday cottage in this country and any further cottages we book have a lot to live up to. Calder cottage was excellent, very clean and tidy and exactly as described. Sue and Ian, the owners were very helpful with recommendations for places to see.

We used it mainly as a base to go and visit friends in the area but the cottage is located on a moorland area with walking routes on the doorstep and a local pub at the bottom of the road.

This was our first holiday as a family with our 5 month old son. The cottage had a travel cot and high chair which was great, and allowed us to travel slightly lighter. We will definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone looking at this cottage to just book it, you will not be disappointed.

Fantastic Get-away

  • 5 of 5
As with every visit we have made back to England for the last few years, we were looking for somewhere affordable, comfortable & within easy reach of my relatives who live in the Preston area.

We stumbled upon Calder Cottage in the summer of 2013.

The booking process was smooth and Ian & Sue are a lovely couple, they are both so easy going & accommodating and we received a very warm welcome on arrival.
All your creature comforts are catered for & the cottage is beautifully finished inside & out. A real home from home.

Ian & Sue are available should you need them, but leave you to your own devices if thats what you choose.

2 decent sized bedrooms, (with VERY comfortable mattresses) a clean, smart bathroom, very comfortable "living quarters" & a beautifully finished kitchen complete the accommodation.

DVDs, games etc are also in the cottage for those rainy days or a beautiful garden with stunning views to sit in on a warm day - where the sun hits directly on the patio from early morning during the summer.

We aren`t walkers, but the area has some stunning views that I can only imagine would be a walkers delight!

We decided very quickly that this would be the place to book for every visit back to England & so have been back 5 times altogether since last July & will be returning again in October 2014.

Calder Cottage is the perfect place to relax, but close enough to major cities to have a busy day if you choose.

We love it!

Luxury in the Lancashire Hills

  • 5 of 5
Oakdean cottages are of the highest quality. We were unfortunately staying to do hospital visiting but the cottage provided a wonderful haven. Everything you could possibly want was there. It was really appreciated that we could make proper meals and there were even champagne glasses (first time ever in a holiday cottage). The cottage was spotlessly clean and well deserved its 4 star rating. The owners were helpful, friendly and clearly were passionate about their business and providing excellent customer service. They are also well positioned to explore the north west. The view of Pendle Hill as we returned each evening lifted the spirits. Highly recommended.

Nice Place.

We had a nice stay at this cottage, it offered us everything we needed. Its a bit of a dark walk down to the pub in winter (no street lights) and the road is narrow so you need to take care. There are a number of footpaths in the area for those who just want to walk.
