This charming 3-bedroom, 1-bath cottage has an open floor plan with a beautiful breakfast bar separating the kitchen from the main living area. Outside patio has picnic table and gas grill. Great water views from inside the cottage. There is a canoe, 2 kayaks, a row boat and life vests available for your use. Our renters also are allowed use of the association beach and playground located a short 1/4 mile away. The cottage property has a nice slope into the water which is good for swimming and launching the boats. For larger groups, please ask about our 4-bedroom, 2-bath waterfront house located next door (property # 118052 on www.homeaway.com). Properties can be rented separately or in conjunction. The fall is also a beautiful time of year as the fall foliage is as good as anywhere in New England. Weekend or partial week stays available. Lenox, Williamstown and Northampton as well as other Berkshire Attractions are all an easy drive away.

Hinsdale, MA is a conveniently located area of the Berkshires as it is an easy drive to Lenox, Williamstown as well as Northampton. It is also an easy drive to Jacob's Pillow in Becket, MA and many other Berkshire attractions. It is also an easy drive to Jiminy Peak and Brodie ski resorts. The frozen lake is also great for x-country skiing and winter walks.

Delightful Cottage on Ashmere Lake, Hinsdale MA

We spent a delightful week in this cottage during October. We found the cottage exactly as described. It was comfortable and cozy and we immediately felt at home. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. Everything was clean and in working order. Although there are houses on either side of the cottage, the windows and view are toward the pond and we felt that we had a lot of privacy. The float was a wonderful place to sit with coffee or a book and the canoe and kayaks with life preservers was a real bonus. The lake is big enough for fun exploring. The cottage was a great central location for day trips throughout the area. We originally planned to stay 3 days then move further south but loved the cottage so much that we stayed a week. Mike (the owner) was wonderful as we planned our stay, good communicator and responsive. We already agree that we will go back to the area and stay in the cottage again.

Wonderful Property!

I just returned from my third stay here and, once again, my stay was perfect. I've stayed twice in the cottage and once in the house next door (Property #118052). Both properties are very clean and nicely appointed. The owners are quite helpful and the reservation process is always very efficient.

The views of the lake are stunning. It's just a few steps out the back door to a private dock - a great place to sit and relax. There are houses nearby but the layout of the property makes it feel quite private. This a perfect retreat from the hectic world.

Hinsdale is a quiet and beautiful town. It is surprisingly accessible and the drive there is scenic from any direction. I highly recommend this vacation rental and I look forward to my next visit.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
