Photos and Description of the Alburg vacation cabin rental
3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom; sleeps 8

Lake waterfront cabin with spectacular views of Adirondack Mountains and Lake Champlain. The cabin, made of white cedar, is located right on Lake Champlain in Alburg, Vermont. It is about 12 years old. It only takes 45 min driving from Montreal and Burlington. The view is beautiful with breathtaking sunsets. Fall foliage is beautiful! The colors are vibrant, the air is clear and the stars are brilliant. I have several of my own watercolor paintings hanging in the cabin.

Bed Set-up: 1 queen, 1 double, 2 twins, 1 sleep sofa (double)

It has a fireplace, dishwasher, microwave, VCR, washer/dryer, grill, sewing machine, crafts, books, bikes, kayak and TV but no cable.

Dog(s) allowed. I have for use at the cabin dog bowls and toys, a large dog crate, and a medium sized dog bed.

WATER: As of 7/7/11, a new water system has been installed. Instead of a well system, there is now a lake water filtration system. The benefit is the elimination of the sulfury that sometimes came with the well water.

Golf: Alburg Country Club available to public - a 10-minute drive away

May weekend 2009

Submitted: May 5, 2009 Stayed: April 2009
My wife and I stayed at the cabin the first weekend of May, 2009. We found the location and facilities to exceed our expectations. It seems like everyone on the street walks alot and we met many neighbors and felt welcome to share this special place. Our dogs appreciated the canine friendly atmosphere - little to no traffic and the pet friendly cabin. Everyone seems to pick up appropriately after their pets, and there was no evidence of abuse. We felt it was a privilege to stay in Kathy's vacation home. We made the short walk to Alburg Dunes State Park daily and look forward to returning in the fall.

Excellent experience!

After seeing exorbitant seasonal hotel prices in the area, my husband and I chose Kathy's cabin as our home base for our trip up to VT for the Green Mountain Marathon. The location is wonderful - quite private with beautiful views of the late - and we enjoyed the fireplace on some chilly nights. As avid cooks, we loved being able to take advantage of the local produce and meats available in the downtown Burlington farmer's market and bringing them back for dinner. All around, it was a pleasure to have some of the comforts of home to help relax before race day.

The cabin was well-maintained, perhaps some cobwebs in the tallest corners, but otherwise tidy. The water occasionally had a very slight sulfur smell, but having grown up with water filtration systems I knew what to expect: it's going to be different from "city" water no matter what. Kitchens, baths, and bookshelves were very well-stocked.

We'd certainly consider staying again, and have already recommended the cabin to others. Thanks, Kathy, for a great experience!

Vermont cabin review

5 of 5
Submitted: July 1, 2012 Stayed: June 2012
My husband, our two dogs and I stayed at the cabin in celebration of our anniversary. The private cabin was more than well stocked with supplies of all sorts, kind of like home away from home! We brought plenty of food with us and easily filled the refrigerator which already had other food in it. If we were more than two, I think we would have had a little trouble with the refrig space. The books were interesting and it was fun to check out the movie selection. We slept in the upstairs bedroom which was ok for me but my husband found his side of the bed to slope considerably. All was in good working order, except for a window blind in the br with the twin beds, and we couldn't find garbage bags so we bought some. I was impressed with the water filtration systems in the house. Excellant idea! We enjoyed the lake, the two person kayak and a campfire on the second tier of the terraced banking. It was very relaxing and we would definately consider going again.

Simply Stunning!

Wow – what a beautiful place! I had an amazing night Friday and an incredible day on Saturday (plus the weather was perfect!). The cabin had everything we needed for a wonderful night away - beautiful views, great beach area, grill, fireplace with plenty of wood, hot shower, clean and comfortable bedrooms, and a kayak to take out on the water. Like so many of guests (from reading the guest book) I had a truly memorable time. I hope to be back for another break away soon! If you're looking for a quiet retreat, this is the place for you! Kathy is wonderfully kind and incredibly helpful. I feel so thankful to have had the opportunity to stay here!

What an awesome place!

If you want peace and serenity, this is the place for you! Everything you could possibly want or need for the perfect get away. And I do mean everything! There are bicycles available to use, a kayak, firewood, brand new gas grill and of course a beautiful peaceful setting. This cabin is down a nice peaceful gravel (well maintained) road and the whole time I was there I saw two cars in four days. There is a handyman on call if there are any issues. Can't beat the "customer service". I went grocery shopping on the way up. I would recommend you just pick something up for dinner and then go to the cabin and make a list of what you will need because as I said everything you need is there. There was already spices, paper towels, foil, utensils, dinnerware ect. and everything was clean. DO NOT STAY AT A HOTEL! STAY HERE! Can't be beat!
