In 2014 we were thrilled to have over 20 families spending time at our home. This house is on a private street that dead-ends into the beach and is located just 50 yards from the water. The changing of the tides offers wonderful swimming, access to clam flats, boating, sand bars, fishing and other activities. Barnstable Harbor, which offers whale watching, charter fishing and boating slips is a short walk from our house. Wonderful beaches at Sandy Neck are only a short boat ride away and offers substantial fun for beachcombers. Fresh seafood and restaurants are within walking distance. The home offers four bedrooms, with two queen beds and 4 twin beds. There is a back patio for cookouts. The house has a washer, dryer, microwave and coffee-maker. The house offers a TV, with cable and access to the internet. Along with the two bathrooms, there is an enclosed outside shower. All bed linens are provided as well as bath towels, beach towels and beach chairs. The house offers central A/C and wireless internet access. No smoking is allowed. .
Enjoy the private beach just steps away for swimming, canoeing and kayaking during the day and breathtaking sunsets in the evening. Sandy Neck is a boat ride away, with some of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast. The home is a short drive to downtown Hyannis where there are a variety of gift shops, restaurants, tourist attractions, and ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Route 6A offers a variety of gift shops, antiques and restaurants and there are many public golf courses within Barnstable. Relax, enjoy the breathtaking sunsets and ocean breezes!
Where else on the East Coast can you take a photo of a sunrise over water and a sunset over water, while standing on the same beach?
Our family rents a cottage every year in the Barnstable Village area, because it's definitely "the Cape," but also convenient to the South Shore where our relatives live, and whom we must visit while we're there. We've rented several cottages in Barnstable, but now the search is over because this cottage on Harvey Avenue is "IT!" This updated and charming cottage is tucked away on a very nice, quiet street, in an area of the Cape that's beautiful and convenient to everything we like to do. It's clean and neat, and perfectly situated. The cottage is spacious and well decorated so everyone was comfortable and had their own space. It was also well supplied and organized, so we could easily find anything we needed. The location is perfect, just one (beautiful) house away from the beach, with no obstruction of the incredible views! It's also near an amazing marsh, which we walked past every day on our way to the local village and marina, where we got coffee, seafood, etc. Coming "home" after a day out and about, we always felt happy and relaxed, and headed outside a lot to enjoy the peaceful views, great walks, and quiet surroundings. For us, the hunt for the perfect Cape rental is over, and we plan to return to this cottage every year!
We enjoyed our family Christmas on the Cape in this lovely home. The house suited our 8-person family perfectly. The well equipped kitchen was a plus. We would recommend this house, with its excellent water views, to anyone wanting a Cape Cod vacation. The owner was also extremely responsive to questions and otherwise communicated effectively. Thanks!
We loved staying int his home! It was exactly what you expect when you think of a cape cod home. The owner was very nice and the information on things to do was very helpful. We loved staying in the center of the cape as it was very convenient to get to all of the places we wanted to sightsee. The beach was very close and nice for the kids to play. Also loved the yard and the toys that were available. The layout of the home worked well for our family of 6.
This home exceeded our expectations. The home was not only well maintained, it had a beautiful view and was steps to the beach. We invited my niece and her husband along with their 4 children, ages, 7, 5 (Twins) and 2. They all had a great time at the beach and the water temperature was not an issue. We hope to rent this home again.
My wife spent her summers in Barnstable as a child and now that we have our own young daughter, we were excited to return to build similar memories. This house far exceeded our expectations. Its location just feet from the water, with spectacular views from the den and kitchen table made every day a joy. The rooms were very comfortable, beds with down pillows, soft cotton sheets, and whole house air conditioning made our stay incredibly comfortable. There were tons of beach towels, beach toys, beach chairs, umbrellas and a spacious outdoor shower to rinse of the salt and sand everyday. In fact I never took a shower inside, even when it rained. The house is also well equipped with fast wireless internet and flat screen tv in the den (for those rare occasions that you need to catch up on email or a snippet of news). The town of Barnstable is very special place as it is not incredibly touristy like many other Cape towns. It has a down home feel and sense of community that we love. The new Barnstable Market is a great addition with fresh local fruits and veggies plus a fantastic selection of wines, beers, gourmet snacks, pints from the best local ice cream purveyors, and deli that makes delicious sandwiches. Just walking distance from the house is Oysterville Fish Too, where we found the Cape's best lobster roll and other seafood classics. Although there are many restaurants nearby, we found cooking at home in the well equipped kitchen and BBQ made for our favorite meals. There are so many farms wtihin a few minutes drive selling the freshest foods of the season.
If you can't tell, we loved our trip. I could go on and on but you must see it for yourself. We have stayed at many fine hotels around the world but when it comes to making summer memories for our family, we hope to do it here every year.
What a lovely home! It was the perfect place to relax and unwind! The home is comfy, clean and well-maintained, and so well stocked with everything that you may need to make your stay comfortable. Marylouise is wonderful to work with and will answer any questions that you may have to the best of her ability. The home is so close to the beach, and it is so relaxing to wake up and see the water and all the activity from your window! We also enjoyed walking to the Osterville Fish Market for great seafood takeout and the Matakeese Wharf Restaurant for an outstanding evening meal. The Whale Watch tour was a true hit! We would do it again in a heartbeat! The Barnstable Market has a great selection of groceries or other purchases that you may need while there. Plus, they make wonderful deli sandwiches. We highly recommend this vacation rental home. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to Cape Cod in the future, we will definitely rent this home again!
This very comfortable house has all the amenities and a lot of extras. It's just yards from 7 miles of beautiful beach where you can walk, swim, ski. We enjoyed watching the sunset over the bay from lawn chairs in the front yard (we'd return for this alone!). The house is on a charming lane within walking distance of a grocery store, shopping, sightseeing, and the whale-watch boat (the whale-watching on Cape Cod Bay is spectacular). The house's location in the Mid-Cape area made it easy to get all over the Cape in a short amount of time, while driving through lovely scenery. We've stayed in many vacation houses over the years, and this one (and it's friendly and helpful owners) rank at the top of our list. We hope to return. Thank you!
Wonderful shopping is available on Route 6A, including gift shops, antique stores and museums. There are tennis courts and golf courses within a short drive, including par 3 courses. The wonderful shops on Main Street in Hyannis are only a 10 minute ride and offers gift shops, miniature golf, restaurants, candy stores and clothing stores. The famous Four Seas Ice Cream shop is only 10 minutes away and is often ranked as one of the top parlors on the East Coast. Walking distance from Four Seas is the 1865 Centerville Country Store filled with penny candy and gifts. Chatham, Falmouth and Provincetown are all known as great shopping locations. There are numerous biking trails on the Cape. The Hyannis Airport is also just a short drive from the property.
Barnstable Harbor is within walking distance and has access to whale watching, deep-sea fishing and restaurants. Walk or bike to Historic Barnstable Village for dining at one of the many restaurants, or shopping at the penny candy store, ice cream shop, and antique stores.
