BRIGHT AND BREEZY BEACH HOUSE IN OCEAN BAY PARK

I rented this house for a four-day weekend in June 2010 with 5 friends (ages 25-30) who were visiting from out of town. We were a little hesitant to rent a house sight unseen, but Peter (the owner) was extremely accomodating and made our stay that much better. The house was exactly as described on the website (location, pictures, layout, amenities, etc.) and we all had a really really great time.

When we first arrived, the house was perfectly clean and very well-maintained. Peter truly went out of his way to ensure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. He responded to our questions within an hour, maybe even less, and there was a lot of information posted around the house to help us get where we needed to go and even some helpful hints.

Some of our favorite amenities were the large grill on the deck with lounge chairs (we bbq'd all weekend) and the large kitchen (which helped when bbq'ing). Everything that you think you might need (laundry detergent, shampoo, etc.) was provided. For family visits, the house is stocked with DVDs, books, video games and satellite TV. It also has plenty of beach chairs for the beach, which right down the block, and there is a pool at the hotel around the corner which is open to the public.

The location in Ocean Bay Park was ideal. We spent time relaxing on the deck or at the beach during the day and at night, we would take a short 15 minute walk or quick bike ride to Ocean Beach to visit some restaurants and bars. The ferry dock for OBP is almost right in front of the house so no need to worry about walking a long distance with lots of luggage.

I would recommend this house to anyone looking to visit Fire Island. It's great for both families and young groups as well as couples looking for a romantic getaway. Peter was extremely reliable and helpful and we couldn't have asked for more. We hope to rent from him again soon.
