Welcome to Peteridge at the Pond, a landmark antique estate above Cunningham Pond in historic Peterborough, NH. Come for a relaxing retreat with beautiful surroundings. The Carriage House is spacious, unique and extremely comfortable. Enter into the huge (25X40) living room with 42'' TV and free WiFi. The open kitchen is gourmet perfect and ready for a crowd. There is an additional prep kitchen with double refrigerators and double dishwashers. The Master Suite on the 1st floor features a queen bed with a luxurious bath with Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The upstairs Master Suite has its own sitting room (with twin beds) and luxurious bath with Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The 3rd bedroom upstairs has twin beds and a 1/2 bath. Take a short walk down the pond-side path to the beach. Hundreds of acres of woods and fields abut the property. A short drive to town or Mt. Monadnock. Available for short or long tern rentals. Pets Welcome! (Pet fee). Ask about additional housing on property - 2 other homes each with 3 beds, 2 baths (sleeps 6-8). One a revolutionary home and the other a turn of the century gem!

The Great Outdoors!: Peteridge is a great place to enjoy the outdoors - no matter what the season! Walk the path around the Pond for swimming, fishing, boating or skating in the winter - or hike up Pack Monadnock for your nature fix, then relax for a wonderful getaway weekend retreat. For those of you who are more adventurous, climb Mount Monadnock, the most climbed mountain in America!

Enjoy that Family Get Together!: Has it been a long time since you have all been together? Is the family geographically dispersed? Utilize Peteridges two large vacation home to plan your reunion or other family event! We have lots of get-together space, games, and outdoor activities. We can handle up to 18 people comfortably!

About Rick & Cindy Stein

We are Rick & Cindy and have both held executive positions in corporate America for many years. RIck's focus has been sales and marketing while Cindy has been involved in customer service and risk management. In 2010 we took a break from the rat race to buy Peteridge, a pre-revolutionary war home in historic Peterborough, NH. We love Peteridge and have made many improvements and updates to the three beautiful homes on the property. We hope that your family or friends will spend some time here in the near future.

Directly behind Peteridge is a hiking trail that starts in the back yard, travels around the pond to the trail up Pack Monadnock Mt. In the winter go to Crotched Mt. Ski area, only 20 minutes away for great, affordable family fun with all night weekend skiing and snowboarding. This newly refurbished Mountain has the best snow making in NH. The Village of Peterborough (the 'Our Town' from Thornton Wilder's play) is about a mile away with restaurants, shops, museums, theater and antiques. Mount Monadnock is a 15 minute drive for spectacular mountain trails. It is the most climbed Mountain in North America! There are golf courses and hiking as well as many other activities. In the summer, Cunningham Pond is great for swimming and fishing. Walk around the lake to the beach or plunge right in from the trail. The pond is restricted to paddle and electric boats and remains one of the most pure in New Hampshire.

Five of us, friends of 25 years, enjoyed the weekend in Peterborough and appreciated all of the charm and amenities of the Peteridge carriage house. There was plenty of space for us and has a lot of eclectic personal touches in the decor and furnishings that made our stay special. The only thing that could have improved the time we spent there was if things felt a bit more carefully maintained. The smoke alarm kept chirping despite changing the battery, many of the light bulbs were burned out and we had trouble getting the living room bright enough to sit comfortably after dark. The fireplace listed apparently is not functional. We called the owner's son, who lives nearby, but he did not know anything about it. The second floor had an infestation of lady bugs (hundreds), probably just par for the course in a country home in winter. We still recommend the place and are sure these circumstances are not typical. Would return for sure in summer to enjoy hiking and beauty of the property.
Owner's Response: Hello and thank you for the review. Please know that we work very hard to maintain the property. The smoke alarms are checked regularly, but of course batteries do run out. We checked the lights after your stay and it seems that someone had switched off the surge protector strip prior to your stay. We apologize for any discomfort this presented. Our fireplace is for show only and does not operate. As far as the ladybugs - yes they come every winter and we get them out as soon as possible. We do have an exterminator spray the exterior 4 times per year. We prefer not to do the interior as we allow pets and feel that we would rather risk bugs at times than the health of the pets that stay with us. We appreciate your good comments and ask that you try us again - we will try to exceed your expectations.

Porch House very cozy

While we loved the location and the home itself, the layout of the bedrooms was awkward for 5 adults. It would be better for a family with children or for just two couples. The house was well equipped with a few exceptions (no toaster, no mixing bowls, it has a washer but no dryer). Glad they have WiFi. The tv is very small. The porches are great. Some might be bothered by the traffic noise. The walk around Cunningham Pond is very peaceful, nice wide trail.
Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your Thanksgiving visit with us. You are right, the house is much more suited for a family or two smaller families, and while there are three bedrooms two adjoin, making it more suited for families with children! Thank you for the feedback, the Porch House now has a toaster and mixing bowls! We have a very unique Washer/Dryer; it is actually a combination, so it washes your clothes and then automatically dries them, very cool! Thanks again for your stay and your feedback; it really helps us ensure great customer service and an enjoyable experience!

Absolutely beautiful

I stayed in the Porch House and found it to be absolutely beautiful. The house is so well maintained and comfortable, you have everything you need. Relax in the comfy claw bathtub, take a leisurely walk around lake or head into the quaint town for a day of shopping or go apple picking nearby. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Peteridge and the owners Rick and Cindy are absolutely fabulous!

Peteridge on the Pond Inn

We found the Inn easily on the main route, 101. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the innkeepers were friendly & helpful. We spent a day shopping in nearby Peterborough in charming shops and had dinner at the Sunflower Restaurant nearby. Another day we walked from the inn to Cunningham Pond, a beautiful, clean lake with a beach and boat rentals. We stayed in the smaller Porch House, but for large groups, there is a beautiful Carriage House. I'd recommend the inn to anyone who wants a quiet, scenic place to unwind.
