General Information:
From Vejer it is easy to visit many other beautiful and well-known areas. You can fly into Jerez airport and be in Vejer within forty minutes. The roads have good clear signs and are all of good quality. Gibraltar, Seville and Malaga are all within 2hrs drive from Vejer and any of these trips are a great way to start your exploration of this exciting area of southern Spain. The white towns are all within easy reach and Granada is only about 5hrs drive. A day trip to Morocco is very easy, it takes 40 minutes to drive to Tarifa where you take a 40 minutes boat trip to another exciting continent. It is a very easy and fast drive to Jerez, Cadiz and Seville, all extremely interesting towns with many historic places of interest to visit. Driving out past the spectacular white town of Arcos de la Frontera towards the mountains, you will see many beautiful villages such as El Bosque and Grazelema with clear views and snow in winter months.
Things to Do:
The area is renowned for great windsurfing, body boarding and kite surfing. There are great opportunities for whale watching excursions at Tarifa, with guaranteed sightings of a variety of species of these enchanting mammals. The bird watching is very good and the area is wonderful for walkers. There are several national parks that are very well kept. The coastline is used by many for strolling as well as serious walking. Jerez is the home of Flamenco and of course the Bodagas to visit for those who enjoy sherry and wines. There are many horse riding centres nearby and you will often see groups riding along the beaches. In Vejer there is a centre where you can organise bikes for hire, Kayaking, walking groups with others who are keen to explore and many other group and individual activities.
