It has "all the toys" most of which were in poor condition and worn from extensive use.
It was to sleep 8, however, it did not state that this included a Murphy Bed in a reconverted garage heated by a plug in heater for 2 guests. Four slept in bedrooms, while two had the fold-out sofas in the living room areas.
The front door lock and side door locks were inoperable and we made THREE phone calls to the owner's representative who did not respond as how to properly close the doors.
Exterior garden and surrounding deck areas were cluttered with broken statues and supposedly water fountains. it was sandy and dirty.
Interior sliding doors did not lock; overhead sun shades were broken making the rooms excessively hot and uncomfortable.
Shelving for dishes, pots, pans, glassware were disorganized.
Owners belongings were stuffed into closet areas.
Clearly this home is a merely a rental situation without regard for guests. We have rented many homes at the Stinson Beach complex and this property is NOT commensurate with the homes that we had have the pleasure of renting. It is not recommended.
Owner's Response: Sometimes you find out that you need to consider the source – this person’s blog would fall into that category – we welcome comments however these missed the mark and compel us to respond.
1st)We are active in the house – we stayed July 4th and reconfirmed how immaculate and well organized the house was for renters.
2nd)As advertised sleeps 8 with two new Kings and two queen sofas inside the house. By design the new (comfortable) Queen Murphy (if one so chooses to use it) is in the modern heated playroom which allows room for full size pool or ping pong.
3rd) New Paddleboard and 4 kayaks, scull, surfboards, skim boards, Laser sailboat, foosball, boogie boards, Prodigy Spa, etc. as advertised work fine. True, new bikes each season don’t last long with use and salt but ok for flat cruising on Seadrift road. BRING your Mtn. Bike if you want to ride Mt. Tam. Kids Toys left by renters cleaned out periodically.
4). Too hot at Stinson? Really? Detailed instructions are provided to each guest in advance. Simply open the electronic skylight, doors and garage door to let the seabreeze and pounding surf in.
5). In the rare instance that we are unavailable you are pre-notified (as this renter was) & a clear call list is provided which it was for this renter. In FACT, we had 3 different individuals respond to this renter. Seadrift is a gated community with security, doors work fine but yes a battery can go out but you can still lock the doors manually.
6) Consider reading other reviews as this renter arrived early before cleaners, got into private locked closets,(we have representatives who saw this renters behavior). etc.
7).After this renter left we had to deep clean the house and and steam clean 3 rooms to boot. The ad says no shedders or huge dogs and we mean it but not all abide. VRBO declined factual documentation and assisted this poster. This is why we believe this renter actually ranted- they did not want to pay the extra cleaning fee that would have been warranted by the mess and dog hair that was left behind.
8) The house is in GREAT Shape.
