The waterfront cottage built 'On the Rocks' of Moosehead Lake has spectacular panoramic views of the lake, islands and surrounding mountains. Watch for loons and bald eagles out the large window on the lake side of the camp. The living room and spacious, fully equipped kitchen both have fabulous views. The thermostatically controlled Vermont Castings propane stove with a glass front gives the cottage a cozy feel. The down stairs bedroom has a queen-size bed, and the loft has 2 full mattresses and a twin bed. The living room also converts to a sleeping area with a futon and a pull-out sofa and of course there is a full bath. Located just off of 15 in Rockwood, it is private, yet very accessible and provides everything you need to enjoy your vacation. There is a shared dock (with one other camp) and a private mooring. The public landing is within walking distance making it very easy to launch a boat. You can fish right off the front deck or off the end of the dock.

The Moosehead Lake Region is a four season extravaganza. Boasting the largest lake in New England Moosehead extends 40 miles north and 20 miles east to west. Explore 400 miles of shoreline in a boat, kayak or canoe. Fish for salmon and lake trout (togue), fly fish nearby 'East & West Outlet.' Take the shuttle from Rockwood to Mt. Kineo, ride on the historic steamship, Katahdin or consider an aerial tour in a float plane. Activities abound with hiking trails climbing up Mt. Kineo, Spencer Mountains, and Squaw Mountain (with a chairlift option). Golf at Kineo Resorts, picnic on Pebble Beach, water ski, swim, whitewater raft, mountain bike, shop or experience the wilderness on hundreds of miles unpaved roads to see fox, deer, or moose! Travel to Baxter State Park, the gulf hagas, known as the 'Grand Canyon of Maine' or to Canada all in one day. The regions fall foliage is an amazing sight.

The end of the dock also is a great place to plunge into the Moosehead Lake waters. There is a gas grill & picnic table for cook-outs next to the lake. Listen to the loons sing while you watch both the sunrise over the Spencer Mountains and the moon rise over the lake.

When Moosehead Lake freezes the enormous tundra becomes a winter wonderland, Snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing bring the lake alive. Downhill skiing is available at near by Big Squaw Mountain Ski Resort. But above all you can relax at Moosehead Lake.
