perfect family destination
We just returned from our trip to Seagrove Beach, and our stay at the "Off Season." I really had no idea what to expect, other than what the pictures showed and description said. A friend recommended the area, having stayed at a house right near this one. I get to be the first reviewer, and will hopefully help you in your decision.
I have 6 children, ages 11 to 1, so we needed a place that would fit us comfortably. The house is technically only 2 bedrooms, but really it is effectively 4. There is the bunkroom, which is a tiny little room, but sleeps 2 fine. Then there was the room on the 3rd floor, which can't really be called a bedroom. However, it is the only room up there, and has its own 2 piece bath, so it would work great as a fairly private bedroom. There is no door on the room, but is fine for a child who wouldn't shut a door anyway. The full wrap around staircase leading up to the room offers plenty of warning of anyone intruding on privacy. The 2 main bedrooms are on the second floor, both with full baths and tons of space. And both bedroom connect to the large screened wrap around deck. We all fit comfortably, with room to spare!
The living accomadations were great. The main floor has an open layout, with a nice kitchen, with all the utensils, appliances, sundries, etc. you could want. It's not huge, but fit my larger than average family comfortably. Also, the downstairs screened in porch was lovely to sit on and sip coffee in the morning before a big day at the beach.
Eastern lake is on the eastern side of Seagrove Beach, so you are away from the busy part of town. It is a very private area, and has a secluded feel to it. But, not to worry! The beach is still close. Out of curiosity I timed my walk from the house to beach one day, and pushing a stroller, plus a couple kids walking along at a leisurely pace, and we got there in 6 minutes. This was no power walk. Also, you don't cross 30A, so you are only dealing with the limited local traffic.
Another thing that made this place such a great spot for our family was Eastern Lake. My little ones (5, 3 and 1) were a bit timid in the waves at the ocean, but Eastern Lake is right there next to the ocean. Shallow, and no waves -- perfect for toddlers and crawlers. But still close to the waves of the gulf for my bigger kids.
Also, the owner, Pam, took very good care of us. We had 2 very small issues arise, and she was very quick to take care of them.
Overall, a fantastic stay. We'll be back!
