In Port Cabin

My overall experience at the In Port Cabin was good. The house was spacious and had a nice layout. The flat screen TV was a nice touch but the dvd player was on the fritz and we had trouble watching a movie all the way through without having to restart the dvd. The window seats were a great hit with a wonderful view and a nice place to cozy up and nap and read. Everyone had a place to go and have some alone downtime. Everyone had their own sliding glass door with access to the deck from their bedrooms. Although, the glass doors do need some attention because some only partially open and others are just so hard to open period! The decks were nice and the two hammocks were a wonderful place to cozy up on and read or nap on!! The house was close enough to the beach and private. We had to walk past the oceanfront homes to the beach and we could see right into their pool and hot tub area whereas our pool and hot tub area were private and secluded, big bonus for us. Who wants everyone looking at them when they are just lounging at the pool??? My son loved the nightly ice cream truck. He had a lot of ice cream!! The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, plates, glasses & dishes. Could use a toaster instead of the toaster oven, but that is just a personal preference from my group. We had linens and towels included, very nice and convenient. We did have issues with some of the anmenities. The bikes had flat tires, the basketball hoop was in total disrepair, the horseshoe pits only had one spike and the overall landscaping was a bit overgrown and there were weeds growing about and around the pool area. Just unkept looking. It did supply boogie boards, beach chairs, a really nice beach umbrella, and rafts for the pool that we used and enjoyed immensely. Less packing!!! The cleanliness of the house when we arrived was deceiving. At first glance it was clean but as we started to settle in we noticed that the shower drain was blocked, we found miscellaneous clothing under the beds, the kitchen floor was dirty and sticky, just basic cleaning undersights and a little disappointing. But overall we had a fun week. We enjoyed the pool area and the hot tub and we had a prime location for the beach and shopping areas, gas stations, and watercraft activities.
Owner's Response: We're glad this guest had a good overall experience, and appreciate the 4 out of 5 rating. Unfortunately, this was the first we heard of any maintenance issues during the busy summer rental season. The issues identified here have now been corrected, and could easily have been remedied during the guest's stay had they been reported. We do have a local management company, landscaper and handyman responsible for regular property maintenance, all of whom respond quickly to guests' issues when they are reported. A 24-hour maintenance number is provided to all guests on check-in so that a clean, safe and comfortable stay can be ensured.
