Beautiful hillside getaway for all four seasons. Situated high on a hill between South Pond and Bryant Pond, this private getaway is close to everything. It's just 5 minutes to Mt. Abram, 10 minutes to downtown Bethel and less than 20 minutes to Sunday River. Plus, it's less than a mile to swimming and boating on both South Pond and Lake Christopher. Relax in front of the fireplace in the family room while watching movies on the plasma TV, or choose from our selection of games for family entertainment! Enjoy ping-pong in the walkout basement. Plus, the wrap-around deck is great for relaxing and taking in the views or hosting a BBQ with friends and family. This open-concept home is fully stocked with everything you need on your vacation. Plus, with four bedrooms and three full bathrooms, there's plenty of room for family and friends. Just Completed! Basement rec room/living room, 3rd bath/laundry room, and 4th bedroom with twin bunks and pullout twin futon.

Layout of the Cabin: On top level is a master suite with queen size bed and full bathroom. The main level has two more bedrooms (one with two twin beds, one with a queen-size bed) and a full bathroom. In the family room are two full-size futons for additional sleeping space. In the lower level is a recreation/TV room with full size futon, bathroom/laundry room, ping pong table, and bunk room with twin bunk beds.

Summer: Swimming and boating at South Pond and Lake Christopher. Mountain biking at Mt. Abram and at Sunday River. Canoing and kayaking on the rivers of the Androscoggin Watershed. Hiking at Evans Notch and Grafton Notch. House has books detailing all of the local canoeing, hiking and biking options.

Winter: Amazing skiing, riding and tubing at Sunday River & Mt. Abram. Snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sledding, cross-country skiing. White Cap Fun Center at Sunday River has an arcade, tubing and ice-skating as well as great musical entertainment at Tango Mary's. Year-round fun at Big Adventure Center with laser tag, bowling, water slides and mini-golf.

Other Activities: canoeing, kayaking

Ski: Cushing Cabin is a 20 minute drive to Sunday River and less than 10 minutes to Mt. Abram.

Cushing Cabin was WONDERFUL! The home was gorgeous and exactly as described. There was plenty of room for everyone and it was neat and clean. The homes location is perfect for a getaway. Both Mt. Abrams and Sunday River were easy and close to get to. The snow and skiing were great! We couldnt have thought of a better way to ring in the New Year than there!I recommend this stay for anyone!! Hope to come back again soon!!!

Well-maintained cabin

We enjoyed our stay in Jeff's very comfortable and clean cabin! Because of the scarcity of natural snow Christmas week, we spent more time than anticipated at the cabin and were especially appreciative of the spacious layout for two families.
We had a great time at Mt Abrams Thursday afternoon skiing and $5 pizza night .
Jeff was very helpful and made the rental process smooth and easy.
We hope to return and give Sunday River another try and would definately rent again.

I have stayed at the Cushing's property twice. A large group came up in 2010 and enjoyed it so much we booked again in 2011. I found the house after much searching on HomeAway & other travel websites. My friends and I all think the house is a find and have already talked about coming back in 2012.

It's a few minutes away from Sunday River, but the space is worth the extra drive time. I've stayed in rentals in other ski areas and nothing compares to this place in terms of the layout for a large group and how well-maintained it is. I have been reluctant to write a review because I don't want it to be booked when I want to return next season! But the Cushings asked nicely... Save a weekend for me next year!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children
