Rackliff Island is easily accessed by a short causeway/road. Calling all nature lovers! In a word, 'Edges' is splendid! It is gorgeous, peaceful, private. Dark green spruces mingle with black and white birches. Mosses and lichen color granite rocks. Wild Maine roses spice the salt air. Our house faces South, close to the water. The view is straight down the cove (protected, deep-water anchorage) to the ocean. The property runs the entire 600' on the cove's west side, encompasses over 3 acres and ends on a spectacular point with views out to Monhegan Island. Views are gorgeous and you have privacy. You can walk, fish, read, create, boat, daydream. Paddle a kayak around the islands. Dine al fresco on the point. Watch the incoming tide splash its way against the rocks. Search for treasure left behind. The house's cedar-sided exterior is contemporary. The spruce and pine interior is warm and inviting, with exposed beams and columns.

Come to 'Edges' and you won't want to leave. But Rockland, Rockport, Camden, Thomaston, Port Clyde, are minutes away and have it all: nationally acclaimed festivals, 1st class museums, auctions, historic sites, golf courses, restaurants and day cruises.Want to do the blues with stars like Bobby Bland? Go to The Blues Festival in Rockland. How about the art of the Wyeths & other prestigious artists who painted New England? Spend the day at The Farnsworth Museum; later visit the home depicted in 'Christina's World.' Rather play golf? Tee off oceanside at the Samoset Resort. Like cars, bikes & airplanes? Owl's Head Transportation Museum is for you. They have many summer events, even live auctions- no telling what you could bring home! And there are many nearby antique auctions. Or treasure hunt at flea markets. Don't forget Rockland's Lobster Festival, with parade, exhibitions, and 'lobstah'! I have it from a reliable source there's quite a few 'lobstahs' with your name on them!

Our house features an extended living room, with a dining area and kitchen at one end and a master bedroom/full bath suite, at the other end. There are 2 decks and a portion of the master bedroom deck is screened. A multi-story window in the living room provides wonderful light and view. Floors are random width pine with area rugs. Furniture is casual and comfortable. The modern kitchen includes gas range, microwave, and dishwasher. There is also a half bath and laundry room with washer & dryer. Second story features: 2nd bedroom has dressing area with 2-steps up to sleeping area, queen-sized bed, water view. 3rd bedroom with twin beds, hall full bath (T/S), library/loft with water view.

lovely secluded location, however the property maintenance was not as described and hopefully the roof doesn't leak or the dishwasher breaks because you may have to cover the bill. Not very easy to discuss issues with the owner. But a nice location overall.
Owner's Response: There is no maintenance issue here. This is about responsibility for damage. These tenants damaged a large landscape print by Monet. Their accounts of what happened did not match up and while we were not eyewitnesses to the event, we feel, as do the frame shop professionals, they took the painting off the wall and then rehung it incorrectly, using only one of the two hooks to hang it back up. We had hung it on two 50 lb. hooks. One hook remained intact in the wall and showed no damage, and the other was ripped out of the wall and bent. The glass on the painting was broken and the frame corners jarred apart. This is the first time in five years of renting that we have withheld any money from a security deposit. The exact repair amount was withheld and a copy of the shop's bill included with the balance of the deposit.
