Enjoy the quiet serenity of China Lake with its awe inspiring sunsets, haunting calls of the loons and views of the narrows across the lake. With almost 150 feet of rockbound shoreline, our dock is ready to be used for boating as well as swimming. Boat rentals are available in China Village. On the first floor of this large A-frame there are two bedrooms, one with a king size bed, a queen size bed is in the other. A full bathroom, a completely furnished kitchen, including a microwave, coffee maker, lobster pot and bottled water for drinking. Completing the first floor is the living and dining areas which face the lake with its wall of windows. The second floor has two bedrooms with twin beds in each room. There is also a child's reading nook and a sitting area outside the bedrooms, with games as well as books and puzzles to use. Up a few more stairs is a fifth bedroom with a double bed facing the lake.. This land has been my family for three generations.

Nearest Airport: Portland, ME at 65 Miles
Car: necessary
Twelve miles to Augusta, capital of Maine, with an impressive state museum, and 250 year old Fort Western. Belfast is the closest coastal city with its numerous restaurants and unique gift shops and ocean kayaking. North from there along route one are many antique stores and several flea markets. South along Route One from Belfast is Lincolnville, with its open beach for ocean swimming. Pemaquid Lighthouse and New Harbor for lobster are family favorites.

  • Each of the bedrooms is generous in size, with a dresser and rocking chair in most of the rooms. The bedrooms on the main floor have the extra large beds with antique furniture and chairs. There is an open oak stairway leading to the second floor. The two bedrooms on this level have two twin beds in each room. In addition, there is a sitting area with with books and games for all ages. The third level bedroom (up four steps) has a double bed and a wall of windows facing the lake. In addition this room has game table with four chairs.

Surrounding area: From the road, there is a long grass driveway down to the A-frame, which is close to the shore. On one side of the driveway, the area is coved with the wildflower called Dogbane, which has a sweet aroma. On either side of the A-frame there are open fields, several football lengths in size. Trees hide the A-frame from the road and the neighbors on one side. And there are tall oaks along the lake shore. Behind the A-frame is a garden area with a gazebo for relaxing and watching the birds that enjoy the surrounding trees and bushes. That is also where the sandbox is located.

We found this exactly as advertised- excellent location with short walk to the water. Great deck for hanging out, easy access to the road but quiet and tucked away from noise. Lack of a beach didn't matter to us, as we didn't have small children. House had wonderful area for kids, tho-nooks for reading, lots of children's books and games.

House was clean, kitchen well equipped. Needed to use bottled water for drinking, and there was ample supply. No TV, but we weren't in need of one.

Owners were helpful, and responded quickly to a problem with the pump, staying to be sure it was fixed.

Enjoyed a great breakfast at the local China Din'ah nearby, and took about 15 minutes to get into Waterville for movie and dinner. But we were really there to enjoy kayaking on the lake and listening to the loons. Enjoyed seeing a pair of Eagles, and a pair of Osprey during our stay. Quiet, relaxing and comfortable.
