We had a great time at Driftwood Bungalow. The accommodations were wonderful. From the time we made our reservations, Doug was helpful and very accommodating. The Driftwood bungalow is quaint with a beautiful ocean view on California's northern coast. The house has everything you would need to make your stay comfortable. We would return to Driftwood and recommend it to our family and friends. Thank you Doug and Rose for all your help and kindness.
Three Girls and a Boy
A week in this cute Driftwood Cottage was perfect for us. Perfectly clean and with everything you need to be comfortable, we highly recommend staying here if you are looking for something in Northern California. We enjoyed the drive to visit the Avenue of Giants redwood forest several hours away. There's lots to do and see nearby as well as enjoying the beach below the cottage. The walk to the beach was lovely each day and we enjoyed sitting in the chairs on the cliff pathway looking out over the ocean... especially at sunset. This is not a commercialized area so traffic was light most of the time. It's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy God's creation!
My hubby and I spent our 5th annual Thanksgiving week at Driftwood Bungalow with our dogs and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was truly our home away from home. From the moment that we walked through the front door it felt cozy and inviting. The gas stoves were lit, the rooms were warm, spotless and it smelled like a fresh apple pie had just been taken out of the oven! Rose, the property manager, was so friendly and helpful and took great care to ensure that we had everything we could possible want. At first I was nervous about there being no cable in the house, but we so enjoyed not having it. We spent more time together talking, playing with the dogs in the wonderful fenced in yard, enjoying the deck and the beautiful ocean view, watching the tide come and go and the sun set. Thanks, Doug, for NO CABLE! The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook any meal you want -- we cooked a turkey dinner! And the bungalow is close to Point Arena where there is plenty to do to keep you interested with a great bakery, pizza shop and restaurant that serves great fish and chips. All in all our favorite place to stay on the Coast with our dogs!
My husband and I enjoyed 4 nights at Driftwood despite rainy weather. It is a great spot from which to explore the coast by car. The cottage is extremely organized with directions available for all systems and the location of all the items one needs for a comfortable stay. There are 2 gas log stoves - one in the living room and the other in the family room. They worked well for the cool nights and mornings that we experienced. There is no cable, but the owner has provided many movies; however, they are dated so carrying a few of your own might add to your enjoyment on movie nights. Thanks to Rose, the cottage is very clean. She is available if you need her (She lives in the attached cottage.), but she is otherwise unobtrusive.
The only downside - especially for families with small children - is that Driftwood is on a cliff. It is quite a hike to the beach down several wide, grassy switchbacks. Carrying everything needed for a day at the beach while corralling small children could be a challenge. If this isn't an issue for you, Driftwood is a fun spot - one we wish we had enjoyed in the summer.
Driftwood is a lovely location that has spectacular sunsets, night skies and a great view. We traveled up and down the coast to Pt. Arena and Mendocino while we were there and enjoyed exploring the small towns. The drive through the redwoods and vineyards through the mountains was lovely. Lots of space in the bungalow with everything you need to cook your own meals.
The bungalow has a great view and is very roomy. Perfect for two adults and two children. Loved listening to the ocean as I fell asleep each night. Very relaxing stay wish we could have stayed a couple more nights.
