'The Studio' is a large room attached to our home, Old Comfortable. It is a private place approached by its own stairway. It has its own key so it can be locked. It offers an L-shaped space, which includes a sitting area with a view of the ocean, cable TV, a queen-size bed and an eating area. The eating area includes an under-the-counter refrigerator. It is outfitted with dishes and linens. There is no stove or kitchen sink. The bathroom is generous in size with a fiberglass shower. This space is best suited for someone looking for accommodations with more personality than a motel room but short of a full-size house. In the summer a local fish store will steam lobsters for you, which you can bring back to eat in the studio or you can use the outdoor charcoal grill. We used this space while our year-round house was being constructed. It is suitable for one or two people. There is a public beach within walking distance and a public landing for launching a boat/kayak nearby.
Kayaks may be rented in Friendship village just five minutes away. Following a day of being on the salt water, arrangements can be made to wash off your equipment. If your group has more than two people, please inquire about our Guest House across the street.
Well, what can you say when it's all been said? Well, you can say thank you Bill and Lynn for making our stay in Friendship a most enjoyable time.
Guests at Old Comfortable never run out of things to do. Within 20 to 40 minutes away, you can find several restaurants, museums, shopping, lighthouses, movies, theaters, concerts (such as the Blues Festival in July), swimming and golf. Also nearby are boat tours and day sails on a windjammer. In August, we have the annual Lobster Festival, the Antique Fair, the Maine Boats and Harbors Show and the Blueberry Fair.
