After many years of visiting Kauai we couldn't pass up the opportunity to have a home there. We live between Maui and California but love Kauai best for vacation. We are ocean lovers who have traveled all over for water sports, beautiful beaches and tropical paradise. Haena Cove is the perfect spot, we hope you think so too!
Alexandra Falk purchased this house in 2011
Exceeded our high expectations - the perfect holiday! Not sure if I can name one thing that made it perfect - but I think it was the sum of the parts! Amazing home, fabulous beach, hikes near by, surfing for the teens...scuba diving adventure on the other side of the island. I can't imagine a better spot to be - or better accomodations....it really was ideal!
Our family enjoyed shifting around - from our beach, to the porch, to the town, to the town beach, to snorkelling, to surfing. All of it is easy access from here!
As others have mentioned, Julie was great for all of our questions and it was super easy booking it through the owner.
Planning our next trip already!
What a great getaway! Lihi kai is perfectly represented by the pictures on the website, a beautiful relaxing home with the sound of the waves breaking and the whales breaching offshore. Who needs more? Located far enough away from town for virtual seclusion, yet close enough for easy daily trips to meet all needs. We spent our days out on the deck, walking the beach, snorkeling Tunnels Beach, and horseback riding in Princeville. Alexandra was helpful with securing our booking, etc. And while on the island, Julie was very gracious and welcoming. One can tell upon entering the gate this property, inside and out, receives great personal attention. We feel lucky to have had the opportunity to stay at such a beautiful home.
Beautiful home and location. Very clean. The porch was the best part about this house and we spent many hours on it enjoying the gorgeous view. The kitchen was well stocked. Beach chairs, umbrellas and toys also available. Three king beds were perfect for our three couples. The property manager, Julie, was close by and extremely attentive. We hired a private chef, Aurora Rosin, and that was one of the highlights of our trip. Don't hesitate to lease this home.
This house and its location are amazing!! Beautiful home and landscaping and I LOVED the furnishings! The beds were super comfy and lots of beach towels, some kids toys etc. The view from the lanai was perfect for whale watching and right in front of the house you could see sea turtles ride the waves. We came during the "winter" and the waves were powerful but fabulous to watch and listen to all day and all night. You can't swim directly in front of the house at this time of year, but Tunnels Beach is just around the corner within walking distance, and the short drive to Ke'e beach was a favorite for us for sunsets and swimming with our two young boys. I love how quiet the beach always was in front of the house, never more than 2 or 3 other people on the beach it seemed, and most of them were just walking on by. The house is about a 10 min drive to Hanalei, and if you are looking to relax in a peaceful and quiet location, away from it all, this house is PERFECT, as it is almost as far north you can go on the island before the road ends. :)
Alex was terrific during the whole reservation process and Julie was amazing as well, always responding quickly to any questions we had, prior to and during our arrival, and gave us tons of great info and suggestions! She helped to make our stay a great one!!!
If you book this house, don't plan to travel too much for touristy stuff.....just enjoy the house and the beach!! Take it in and relax. And when you arrive, look around...I'm sure you will see a little piece of my heart still there. :)
The location is so beautiful-I kept wondering at how fortunate we were to have found this home. This part of Kauai is so lush and is next to beautiful jagged mountains. The first thing you notice upon entering the gate is the perfectly manicured grounds and the tropical foliage. Every time we went through the gate we said "Welcome to fantasy Island." Then you enter the home and the view from the living room is breathtaking! The ocean, the beach- lovely. Our family gathered on the back deck most of the time and enjoyed the view. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows and extra linens. The kitchen was very well stocked. We prepared Thanksgiving dinner there with no problem.
The home was such an oasis that during our 8 day stay we rarely left. But some activities that our family enjoyed were snorkelling at Annini beach (bring your own gear), the Kalamaku Luau, renting kayaks in Hanalei and of course getting shaved ice.
Since you will not want to leave this home I would recommend that you stock up at Costco or Safeway on your arrival. Groceries are more expensive in Hawaii and after the sticker shock we found Foodland in Princeville pretty reasonable (sign up for their club card).
The washer and dryer came in handy in that we didn't have to pack very much.
The home had little surprises that just added to our experience-there were two outdoor beds on the front and back decks. Some members of our party slept on them overnight. Also there is a convenient foot shower just before you enter the home to keep the sand outside. And also a full shower outside on the side of the home. And downstairs there was a "toy room" where there were sand toys for small children, a boogie board, beach mats, umbrellas, beach chairs, and beach towels. There were several areas to lounge-many comfortable chairs on both front and back decks, downstairs by front door, and many lounge chairs on back lawn and porch.
Julie was our host and made sure that we had everything we needed and was very easily reached by phone if we had any questions.
I can't say enough about how wonderful this home is. We hope to come back!
This may be the best beach location in Kauai. Nice breezes, gorgeous sand, spectacular view you can't take your eyes off, privacy... I spent a week with family and friends and the property worked perfectly. Lots of space for all six of us to spread out without feeling like there was too much room. It seemed as through the house had a recent cosmetic overhaul, as many of the materials appeared new, which was nice. As well, the interior decoration was surprisingly tasteful and made for nice hanging out inside. The deck in front is amazing--a perfect place to hang out and watch the ocean. The kitchen is big, well-stocked, and fairly pleasant as far as rental kitchens go.
I considered a number of rental properties in the area, and having now been to the North Shore and seen the other options, can safely say this was absolutely the right spot for us. Some of the competing properties in the same (fairly hefty) price range appeared a bit rough around the edges, some set way back in the trees, a little jungly.
A few small things hardly worth noting, but might prove mildly annoying to some: the lower floor hallway and adjoining areas had (until aired out) a slight musty smell--I think from some of the reclaimed wood pieces used to furnish the house--the main shower didn't have a soap holder, the knob for the outdoor foot shower was rusted so rust ended up on hands sometimes, and the main entrance to the beach is through the bathroom downstairs. These things really didn't bother us at all, but want to be comprehensive about the criticism.
The house is a very basic two-level design--tasteful, but nothing Earth shattering or overly-luxurious. Very functional with nice decorative details. Nice bedding!
I should also mention how nice and responsive the property managers are. they stopped by to make sure things were as we hoped and responded right away when needed.
I would absolutely stay here again and I'm hesitant to write more for fear of ruining the secret.
