A GREAT PLACE TO STAY

  • 5 of 5
The cottage is in a great location -- central to everything we wanted to do. We used the grill nearly every day. The furniture and beds are very comfortable, and the cottage is the perfect size for a family of four. The weather was quite warm when we were there, so we took advantage of the new air conditioner, and fans helped cool the bedrooms at night. Although we like to avoid doing laundry on vacation, it always seems to be a necessity for our family, so having the washer and dryer was great. Nick was helpful with tips and area information. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay in a good location.

WONDERFUL COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
This was our 7th stay at Hidden Place and it is a wonderful cottage. It is well decorated and has all the conveniences of home, including a phone, a dish washer and a washer and dryer. We cook several meals while we are there and the kitchen has everything we need to cook breakfast, lunch or dinner. The owner is friendly and helpful and takes pride in keeping the cottage well maintained.
The location is convenient to so many things including, of course, Acadia National Park; but it is also easy to get to Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor. Beal's in Southwest Harbor is a lobster pound with excellent lobster as well as other menu items. The Burning Tree is just down the road and is one of our favorite places for dinner. Jordon Pond is a great place for lunch or for popovers and afternoon tea. Hiking around Jordon Pond is one of our favorite hikes. Also, we enjoy hiking on Ocean Path, Bubble Rock and the carriage roads.
Hidden Place is a wonderful home base.

BEAUTIFUL AND CLEAN, PERFECT GETAWAY!

  • 5 of 5
My family and I stayed at Hidden Place earlier this month; it was the first time we had ever rented a house on Homeaway. I am happy to report that Hidden Place exceeded all expectations we had for it. It is located ~15 minutes from Bar Harbor, which was great because we weren't with all of the crowds. It is also about 0.5 miles from the Stanley Brook entrance to Acadia National Park, so you could literally walk into the park if you wanted to! Nick, the owner, keeps the place in beautiful condition, everything was very clean. The kitchen had every implement we could need for cooking, and then some! We liked the place so much that we ended up staying there an extra night.

If you stay here and like donuts, definitely check out Colonel Restaurant and Bakery in Northeast Harbor. Quite possibly the best donuts I've ever tasted.

Thank you very much Nick for such an enjoyable stay!

UNLIKE WASHINGTON FOLKS NICK DOES HIS JOB WELL

  • 5 of 5
We had the misfortune of booking our Acadia vacation for a week during the government shutdown (we planned it months ago). Or should I say we had the fortune? Nick is such a great host that he graciously allowed us to shorten our stay from a week to 4 days without charging us the full weekly rent so we could spend several days in other parts of Maine instead of Acadia. Upon arrival we found the rental home immaculate with everything we ever needed fully stocked. Nick greeted us with excellent suggestions about Acadia trails and surrounding places to visit. The house is only minutes away from the Acadia park entrance near the Jordan Pond House. Even though the park was closed due to the government shutdown we were able to park our car just outside the gate and walk in. Jordan Pond House is only a short hike from the entrance and many great trails start from the Jordan Pond House. We took the Penobscot Mountain Trail suggested by Nick. The view was breathtaking. We were so glad that we hadn't cancelled the trip. It's actually more enjoyable than when the park is open because there was no crowd at all. We were the only two people on the mountain top and it was so quiet and beautiful. We went to the other places suggested by Nick in the following days, all five stars. We also had the luxury of resting in a comfortable home after a day's hike. Some days we even took a break during the day at the rental home because it's so close to the park. Kudos to Nick for maintaining such a lovely place! We will definitely stay at this property again when we make a return trip to Acadia.

COMFY AND CONVENIENT!

  • 5 of 5
Hello,

I highly recommend staying at Nick's place -- it's very comfortable, clean and a convenient location being right next to an Acadia National Park entrance.

Nick is very responsive and great person in all forms of communications - email, phone and in person.

We had breakfast at home and sometimes packed our lunch -- the kitchen is fully equipped. We had a lovely vacation hiking, eating lobster and visiting Acadia and Mount Desert Island (with a jaunt over to Canada for the Roosevelt Campobello site).

It was great to come back to the cottage and just relax. Great, great place to stay.

GREAT VALUE!

  • 5 of 5
The cottage is a great value, especially for a family. The kitchen is fully equipped and Nick has provided all the essentials, down to trash bags, plastic baggies and foil. We were able to cook in for much of our trip as the cottage was convenient to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. It was very clean and comfortable. We highly recommend it.

Nick is also very helpful and is always available. He even provided a jump for us as our battery had died the night before.
