Great Week, Great Place!

We just returned from a week's vacation at Hidden Place in Seal Harbor. We were blessed with great weather all week, and the cottage was ideal, both from the amenities provided (cooking utensils and cookware, etc., as well as internet, phone, and cable), and the location. Set back from a quiet road, it was very quiet, and a welcome place to come back to after each day's adventures.
Our 19 month old daughter was very much at home here, and she enjoyed both the yard and the open floor plan of the cottage. We were a short walk (10 minutes or so) to Seal Harbor beach, and we went there throughout the week. There was a nice little swingset on the left side of the beach set up on the hill a bit, and it was nice for our daughter to be able to swing looking out at the boats in the harbor.
As for the location, the cottage is nicely situated about 7 miles from Bar Harbor, 4 miles or so from Northeast Harbor, and a half mile from the Jordan Pond / Park Loop Road of Acadia. We took advantage of our location by doing a horse carriage ride at Wildwood Stables one day (only a mile away from the cottage), and by bicycling the Carriage Road around Jordan Pond and Bubble Pond right from the cottage. Other activities included Sand Beach, any number of hikes in the park (we did Acadia Mtn, Jessup Trail, Dorr Mountain, Jordan Pond Shore Trail, and the Ocean trail from Sand Beach to Thunder Hole and Otter Cliffs), and bicycling around Eagle Lake.
We enjoyed being able to have breakfasts and dinners at the house, and utilized the grill on a few nights, and also did two proper clambakes of lobsters, steamers and corn on the cob at the cottage, buying the lobsters and clams from Parson's on Route 233 on the outskirts of Bar Harbor.
All in all, one of the most enjoyable vacations we've taken. In the past, we've typically always looked to new locales to explore on vacation, but we're already talking about returning next year some time, and thinking that Acadia (and Hidden Place) may become a tradition for our family. Lastly, Nick was professional, easy to deal with, down to earth, and welcoming of us as guests and new friends. Thanks for a wonderful week!
