This charming 4 bedroom cottage is located just up the street from the village green and public dock of the Village of Bayside. From the large wrap around porch you can keep an eye on your kids playing in the park while you relax in the hammock and enjoy the cool sea breeze. The cottage has been updated with modern kitchen and bathroom conveniences but still retains its 19th century feel. Situated on one of the larger lots in the Village, the cottage offers extraordinary privacy in a central location. The lot includes a large front lawn complete with picnic table and ample parking. The upstairs has four bedrooms that will comfortably sleep 6-7 people. The downstairs has a living room, dining room, kitchen and bath with shower. Large sliding glass doors open onto a screened in porch with a view of the park and the bay beyond. The screened in porch has a lounge chairs and table and is perfect for twilight suppers. Bayside is a unique summer community on the shore of Penobscot Bay 3 miles south of Belfast. The Village consists of a cluster of 250+ Victorian gingerbread cottages set around a series of public parks. Bayside offers a full plate of summer activities including golf, swimming, boating, biking, hiking and fishing. It is an ideal family vacation spot. There is a playground in the park, a life-guarded swimming float at the dock and a public swim beach. The local Yacht Club offers public sailing lessons and in conjunction with the Village sponsors a variety of activities throughout the summer. While many spend the week and never leave the Village, Bayside is also an ideal base for exploring midcoast Maine including the Camden Hills, Acadia National Park and the islands of Penobscot Bay. Waldo county is a bicyclist's dream with miles of paved back roads. 20 minutes away, the Camden Hills offer numerous hiking trails.

Cottage Features: A small washer/dryer can spare you the inconvenience of a mid-week trip to the laundromat. Owners have small children and cottage is child friendly. There is a toddler bed, high chair and upstairs play area with some toys. In 2006 we built a cottage style bunkhouse on our lower lot. This cute building has a bathroom and general living room downstairs and a large sleeping lot upstairs. It has no kitchen although there is a refrigerator. Its a perfect place for a group of teens. We will consider renting this building as part of a cottage rental for an additional $400.00.

Surrounding Area/ Belfast: The area offers numerous art galleries, auctions, antique stores, restaurants and more. Belfast is just 2 miles away and boasts a large grocery store along with dozens of interesting locally owned businesses. Belfast hosts a summer outdoor concert series and there is also a musical theater and playhouse in the area.

Boating: Bayside has a large sailing community. The local yacht club offers sailing lessons and social events for the whole community. If you hang around at the dock there is good chance you will be invited to crew for someone. There are Thursday night sailboat races for kids and big boat races on most weekends. Racers are often looking for bodies. There are daily charter excursions in Belfast as well as local kayak liveries who will deliver a kayak to your door or take you on a guided tour.
