The lake is 2 miles long by 1.25 miles wide, 65 feet deep & is located northwest of Sebago lake. It is stocked with salmon, trout, and small mouth bass so the fishing is good.We are close to the towns of Bridgton and Naples & several nice spots for hiking; N. About Cate or Bill Murphy

This is our second home and we use it often. We want our guests to enjoy it as much as we do. We have been renting it for the last 8 years and many families have enjoyed a week here in the summer or fall, kayaking, swimming and just spending time at the lake. The morning sunrises are breathtaking. We added a nice sitting dock this year , More pictures coming soon.

Guestbook comments from the owner

July 30, 2005The cottage was relaxing and comfy. Our kids had a great time swimming and fishing. They loved the loft - aka - playroom. We enjoyed going to the Sebago Library and the Naples Library. What a great town (Naples)! We return to Douglas, Mass. well rested and relaxed and full of fond memories. Yours truly, Ingrid, Chad, Slade, Molly and Sam

Beautiful Lake, Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful week in Sebago. The lake was clear and warm, and our children spent hours kayaking and swimming off the docks. We were amazed at how quiet the lake was, very few motor boats and we could enjoy the sounds of the loons that nest at the lake. The yard was nice size, and the inclusion of some outside toys made for some fun kickball and wiffle ball games.
The house is not fancy, but met all our needs. It was very clean, beds were very comfortable, washer/dryer was a great. The deck became our outside living room, and we spent as much time as possible outside enjoying the last week of summer. The kitchen is small, but works fine for a small family meal.
Before going, we were not sure how "away from it all it would be." We were able to get to the grocery store or out to dinner in Bridgton in less than 15 minutes, a bit longer when we ventured to Naples. We even made a daytrip to Storyland, which was ~ 1 hour drive each way.
We had a wonderful week, and hope to go back again.

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5
My family and my sisters family recently had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful cozy, country cabin and had a great time. Without a doubt the most relaxing vacation we've had yet. My 15 year old son fished everyday. My niece was in the water from sun up to sunset. we kayaked everyday and relaxed in the evening enjoying the quite and beautiful views. would highly recommend to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday routines. To put it simply.......WONDERFUL! Audra and Matt, RI

Another awesome stay - the best place on the lake!

  • 5 of 5
This was our second year renting the cottage and we found it not only as sweet as as we had remembered from last year but right away noticed a couple additions that actually made our stay even better. We love the long dock that my 2 little girls totally enjoyed fishing - my 7 yr old actually caught fish twice from the dock! The addition of the side dock and chairs were wonderful! I loved sitting there early mornings waiting for the sunrise (one of my favs things to do at this place). Another addition were the kayaks. My 7 yr old tried kayaking for the first time and she did great with the smaller kayak. Another of my favs were listening to the loons in the mornings and even later in the day. We had great weather and I actually welcomed a couple days of clouds that allowed us to enjoy canoe trips with the 4 of us early mornings (which meant no sunblock to worry about). The lake is big but we made it to the north end where we found two little islands with lots to look at and different views. Of course we spent lots of time swimming to the flotaing dock and on the beach area - my 3 yr old loved searching for little things on the waterfront among rocks and vegetation. The cottage is completely set up for families with children (from beach toys, gates, puzzles, a train set that my girls loved, games) and has a nice collection of movies and books for adults as well. I actually started a book that I hope to finish next time we stay. The stove is not that big but it worked for us - I even made a foccacia bread in the oven that turned out really nice. We also enjoyed the side yard for eating outdoors and the grass was great for my girls to play soccer and other games. I would definitely recommend this property as in my opinion is definitely one of best if not the best on the lake due to their location, beach, dock and amenities. We look forward to come back - one week is never enough!.

Peaceful Oasis

  • 5 of 5
This was our second year on Peabody Pond, and once again it did not disappoint.

The foliage was beautiful and the time spent kayaking, hiking and listening to the loons was wonderful. This is a perfect getaway for anyone who just wants to relax.

There were four adults staying in the cabin and we had plenty of room. The cabin is clean, comfortable and very inviting...one of the nicest places on the pond!

The owners are nice and very accommodating. They truly make you feel very at home in their home. We will definitely stay here again, and we highly recommend to anyone looking to rent in Maine!

So glad you were able to come back to our cottage again this fall. Glad the foliage was good and you were able to use the kayaks. Douglas Mountain is great for hiking. You are, of course, welcome anytime!

Third Time--Still a Charmer

  • 5 of 5
Two friends and I returned for our third summer and had the vacation we hoped for: a deck for reading and relaxing, great swimming and nice neighbors. The dock was the perfect viewing spot for the meteor shower. As always, the cottage was neat, clean and comfortable. We made our usual trip into Bridgton for a little shopping (and ice cream) and took advantage of the local farm stands. Another perfect week! We plan to return in 2011.
