Hello,

Welcome to Kitty's Lake House, the home I designed and physically built myself in honor of the memory of my Mother, who was as unique as you will find this place and the breathtaking spot it rests on. I grew up in Millinocket and moved to southern Maine where I work as a high school art teacher. My vacations always brought me home to this amazing place and this gave me the incentive to build this one of a kind property.

Enjoy!

UNIQUE HOME MET ALL OUR NEEDS

  • 5 of 5
We were a group of 9, who traveled to Maine to meet up with our son and his fiancée, as they finished the Appalachian trail. The house is about a 30 minute drive from Baxter State Park and a short drive to Millinocket, where we were able to find everything we needed for our stay. Kim was easy to work with and got back to us quickly. We all enjoyed our stay in this marvelous home. If you need a football fix The Blue Ox in Millinocket was a great place to hang out.

ECLECTIC AND INTRIGUING

  • 5 of 5
What a fun place. We loved the way Kim has incorporated "found" objects into the building of this special place. Kim was wonderful to deal with and responded quickly to all of my questions. Great place to stay if you don't want to camp in Baxter State Park. It's 30 minutes to the Togue Pond Gate. I would definitely stay here again!

ONE-OF-A-KIND HOUSE, MARVELOUS LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
This home is a marvelous and unique creation of its owner, Kim Chasse. As the photos demonstrate, the home is a labor of love with 60% recycled materials incorporated into the beautifully crafted woodwork throughout. The owner salvaged huge granite foundation pieces from the Portland Library, a door from a renovated health center, cabinets from the chemistry classroom of a school, floor boards from a local elementary school and incorporated these items and more from the surrounds into a breathtaking, multilevel, spacious and open, sunlit and light-filled space. The most unique vacation home we have ever rented. For a group of 6 adults, it provided private nooks and gathering places for all. Access to pristine lakes for canoeing and fishing was plentiful. And access to Baxter State Park for multiple day hikes was very easy. A wonderful place to relax, cook dinners each night, go for long refreshing lake swims. An added novelty is the train track between the house and the lake - several times a day a train with mill products runs by, An ideal home for a family with kids who love sleeping in lofts and high places. The marvelous beauty and obvious labor of love this home represents and the pristine Maine Wilderness setting (without crowds even in August) make this one of the finest reasonable summer vacation homes we have (and likely will ever) stay in. The owner Kim is very accessible by phone and email and very kind and flexible. Thank you for sharing this marvelous home with the public.

AGAIN, SOON, HOPEFULLY

  • 5 of 5
This is a wonderful vacation house at an amazing location with a great owner, Kim. We arrived a day earlier. It was Kim's idea: the drive (from central CT) was long, the house was available, and ... arriving late at night, almost missing the driveway (although instruction were very clear and accurate), and a few hours later waking to dream of a view, filling the house, cleansing the heart, is an unparalleled experiece. We ended up spending much more time in the house than we had originally planned. It is an inspiring house: to draw (even those who normally don't), listen to music (great vynil library), read, relax, enjoy each other's company - and I almost forgot - cook, always facing the great views this house has to offer...

BREATH TAKING!!!

  • 5 of 5
This house was amazing to stay in. This is where you come to really appreciate the beauty of Maine.
The sunsets over the lake and behind the mountains were breath taking. We came up here to Hike Mount Katahdin and went home a little sad that we had to leave this beautiful place.
Although there was no cable or internet. There was plenty to do and no one was bored. Our favorite part was the Record collection! We really appreciated that Kim shares that with everyone. We couldn’t get enough of it! We had 9 People stay there and there was plenty of room. So many things to explore in the house. It was so amazing and many of our group said it was the best vacation they ever had!
The place is beautiful and the pictures just don't do it justice. There are letters on the wall (TUM) we were not sure what the stood for so we made up our own. Truly Unbelievable Memories!
So just want to say thank you so much to Kim for letting us stay here. And our group is already talking of going back!
