Old Orchard Beach Vacation Rental house

If it were not for a completely soggy week, this vacation would have been perfect. But BECAUSE it was a soggy week(and we had to spend a lot of time inside) this home was perfect for us. As grandparents in need of occasional privacy/space from the rest of the group, we were extremely satisfied with the accomodations. We had our own bathroom, living room, and bedroom downstairs; and the rest of the group had a full house to enjoy upstairs. The living room furniture was comfortable; and when we had the occasion to, we could all sit together upstairs .
Having internet access was a bonus;and we really enjoyed the convenience of having a washer,dryer,and dishwasher available to us. The most appreciated aspect of this vacation home was that our bed was comfortable; we had a queensized pillowtop in the lower level; and when we asked the others how they slept, nobody had any complaints; everyone slept well (unsual for a rental!). The dining room table had maximum seating for six; but since we had 8 in our group,we ate in shifts( not really a problem). But if we rent again, we might bring along a small card table to set near the opening between the living room and kitchen so we could all eat at the same time . (Two folding chairs on the deck could have been used inside for that purpose)However,if need be,there is a large coffee table in the living room that could serve as japanese style seating for dining.
The owner of this home was very helpful. As first time visitors to OOB, it really helped to be shown ways of maximizing our experience. She never hesitated to answer questions; and her answers added greatly to the quality of our vacation. This home is conveniently located; everything is in walking distance; and we were thrilled to note that there is a grocery store right at the corner for those "fill in" times when you don't want to travel 2.5 miles to Hannafords; we were even able to fill the propane tank at the hardware store (in the same complex).Our favorite restaurant was about 1.5 miles away at the Dunesgrass golfcourse. The atmosphere was great and the food was absolutely delicious! Next year we are going to try their "Two Fer" night. We were so impressed with ribs that melted in our mouths and a sherry cream seafood stew "to die for" that we had to go back the next day. Prices were pretty reasonable--a 10 inch pizza was no more expensive than at Jimmy the Greeks;and (personally) we liked it better.(menu online)
