Less than 1/10th mile walk to the historic Lenox center. Nestled deep into the woods off a quiet road on two acres of private land with babbling brook. Original architecture remains outside (providing two porches one private and screened) as it once served as a gatekeeper's cottage to larger estate. Home has been updated and provides 4 bedrooms with plenty of room. Abutting Shakespeare & Co. and just a short walk to Tanglewood and the Stockbridge Bowl. This home is close by to ALL Berkshire attractions and a short drive to other area attractions likes Six Flags New England, Yankee Candle Company, Basketball Hall of Fame and more.

Skier's Paradise: Centrally located in Western Massachusetts and just a short drive to local skiing at Butternut and Jimminy Peak. Other top ranked ski destinations are all within a 1-3 hour drive like: Gore Mountain, Killington, Okemo, Stratton, Mount Snow to name just a few.

Saratoga Horse Racing: August is the best time to be in Saratoga for historic horse racing. However Saratoga Springs, NY offers plenty of other things to do like shopping, restaurants and museums. Saratoga Springs, NY is just an hours drive and is a 'must visit' when ever you visit.

Ski: Local skiing at Butternut and Jimminy Peak to the 'Best of the East' Killington Mountain, Okemo, Stratton, Mount Snow, Gore Mountain and more!

Golf: For the recreational player to the 'scratch golfer' you will find it here! Some of the best courses in the country are located throughout western Massachusetts and eastern New York. Golf fun 'Fore' everyone!!

The cottage was just as described - wonderfully rustic and comfortable and just what we were looking for.. We were very relieved to find that the cottage is set well away from other surrounding homes, as our small doggie has a very sharp bark that might annoy others (and why we could never stay in a condo).

The large eat-in kitchen, has everything you might want - right down to a corkscrew. The furniture and beds were comfortable and there were many blankets.

The restaurants were terrific - our favorite was Alta, expensive for us, but well worth a special night out! The Village Cafe, which is also a B&B, is nice - with a very congenial owner on the premises. Most restaurants in the area also have outside dining.

We also recommend Tanglewood, where we saw the very wonderful James Taylor in concert.

Not to be missed is Shakespeare and Company. We saw a production of "Twelfth Night" that was so entertaining that even my not-so-Shakespeare-oriented spouse said he was "getting the jokes." This was theater at its professional best! ,

The guided tour of the Norman Rockwell Museum gave new depth and understanding both to the art and the man. We now have a new appreciation for the wry details he included in his work.

Edith Wharton's home, called "The Mount" is a beautiful mansion with a spectacular rear garden. The guided tour was helpful in explaining the life of this author along with the her reasons for building the home.

Because it was raining, we were not able to take the Berkshire Scene Tours guided canoe trip down the river or tour the Berkshire's Botanical Gardens. Well save that for the next time!
