Sportsman's Paradise! The Big 'O' Cycle and Cross Country Cycle trail is 1/4 mile from cabin and can be accessed from the cabin. The Pere Marquette River, one of Michigan's top producers of rainbow, brown, brook, and steelhead trout, Chinook and Coho salmon is only a mile away. Why Please email Jeff Taylor with questions. chose Baldwin / Walhalla

This log cabin is approx. 1500' off the main road, tucked back in the woods. There are no neighbors in sight from this great cabin. Very secluded, quiet and private. Great spot to relax and get away from it all.

What makes this chalet unique

Walhalla was originally an Indian Village, located near Long Lake in the heart of the Manistee National Forest, approximately 12 miles east of the town of Ludington. This area is a nature lover's dream. The National Forest, Pere Marquette River and nearby beaches of Lake Michigan combine to offer unlimited recreational possibilities. The Manistee National Forest offers thousands of acres of land for hiking, snowmobiling, hunting, dirt biking and ATV trails. It is the only national forest with an ATV trail system in western Lower Michigan, and connects with an additional 180 miles of 'off road vehicle' trails east of Highway 37. Over thirty lakes and three rivers in the area offer salmon, steelhead, rainbow and brown trout fishing. Ludington State Park is located just a short drive from Walhalla and is called 'Queen of Michigan's Parks.' It features sand dunes and virgin forests, miles of sandy beach, 14 miles of hiking and biking trails and three campgrounds. Fishing charters are also available in Ludington, as well as canoe and kayak rentals, watercraft and boat rentals - even dune buggy rides. Other points of interest include the Big Sable Point Lighthouse and Historic White Pine Village, which is a collection of 21 buildings that depict small-town life in Michigan during the late 1800s and beyond. Walhalla Village is a great place to escape city life and 'get away from it all.'

Wonderful Retreat in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time to the Taylors cabin, and it was all and more than we had hoped it would be. The cabin was beautiful, as it was our first time ever staying in a real log cabin. Very clean, and comfortable.

A wonderful spot to get away from it all for a few days. We will for sure be back!

Thanks!

Perfect Woodsie Get Away

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was exactly what we were looking for. It is set back in the woods with no view of other cabins or homes. It has a view of a lake to the rear of the property and land to walk around a bit. Trails are close by. The cabin is beautiful work of art. The loft has five beds and the first floor bedroom has a large king size bed. The bath and a half is nice too. It is well kept, stocked with everything you need in the kitchen, plus games, music, and puzzles too. There is even a TV for DVD's and we did turn on the Lions game for a bit. Ludington is close by if you need to get to the city. Skating, movies, Meijers, coffee shops and of course Lake Michigan are all a short drive away. Okay it wouldn't be a fair review without the down sides. It could be a little cleaner but you don't notice it until look under the bed or loose something in the couch cushions. The water began to smell like sulfur after the first day and became undrinkable by the third day. I don't know what that was about it was fine at first. I'll bring water next time. Overall it was an excellent experience and I'm recommending it to friends.

Owner's Response: Hello, Glad to hear you had a great stay at the log cabin. Your concerns have been straightened out, as we have made some improvements. Since your stay, we have put in brand new leather furniture, replacing the fabric furniture. Cleaning up will be much easier with this improvement. Also, the cabin has well water, as does all properties up north in the woods. Water has been tested, and easily passed state guidelines. The new refrigerator has ice and water in the door, and that is all filtered and water tastes great. We are also having a water softener installed, which Culligan Water Systems says will eliminate any possible well water issues. Hope to see you back up in the woods soon! Thanks again, Jeff

Great quiet get a way!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay! The cabin has absolutely everything you need. We talked about returning for a second visit and we will only have to bring our personal items and food! We want to make coming to this cabin a tradition so we will be back! The property is secluded, full of trees and an open yard. The cabin is very clean and comfortable. Better than the pictures can show! The dock is shared and when we wanted to fish it was being used so we will try that next time. Our dog loved it. She ran everywhere. Ended up with some burs though! She even went in the water! Didn't see much wildlife except for some geese flying over and the sound of the squirrels. No bugs! Can't wait to visit again. Jeff gave great directions so it was very easy to find!
