About The Grizzly Den cabin on the Yellowstone Riverfront. Tammy

Yellowstone National Park has always held a special place in my heart. I've been visiting the park on an annual basis since 1999 (sometimes several times a year) and each trip is unique and special in its own right.

In 2008, I brought my Dad to Yellowstone over the Thanksgiving holiday and the weather was amazing...cool & crisp but not cold and unbearable. We hiked for several hours every day and had the time of our lives. One morning we set out on an 8-mile hike. It had snowed a couple of inches the previous night and 1/2 mile into the hike we discovered we were following the tracks of a large grizzly bear. For the next 3 miles we walked in the footprints left by the great bear, armed only with bear spray, but never did see the bruin. Seeing my Dad's face light up when he realized the tracks were not very old and that we were not 'alone in the wilderness' was priceless. Because of that trip, I realized I wanted to spend as much time as possible with my Dad, enjoying moments like those while we still had the opportunity. Life is so short!

Then in 2012, my entire family was able to join me in Yellowstone to celebrate my birthday. It was in that moment I decided this is where my heart is and in order to experience more lasting memories with my entire family I needed to have a place for them to call their 'home-away-from-home'.

Together, my Dad & I purchased this cabin as place to relax, watch the wildlife, fish the Yellowstone River and most importantly build more lasting memories. Being able to give my Dad the gift of owning a cabin means so much to me.

As a Vietnam Vet and someone who grew up without modern conveniences (ie: running water & indoor plumbing), owning a cabin was never on his radar. My Dad is the most kind-hearted, caring person I know and he would go the extra mile for those he cares about. Being able to give back to him was a dream come true and helping to make his dreams come true is what life is all about!

The Grizzly Den cabin on the Yellowstone Riverfront. Tammy purchased this cabin in 2013

Why The Grizzly Den cabin on the Yellowstone Riverfront. Tammy chose Gardiner

We chose this cabin because of the proximity to Yellowstone National Park and the fact that it is located right on the Yellowstone River. We can literally fish right from the banks outside the cabin and grill the fish minutes later while enjoying the evening from the patio...all without leaving the cabin.

We named the cabin, 'The Grizzly Den' for a couple of reasons, 1) Grizzlies are my passion (I've been studying them since 1999) and seeing them in the wild is a most special and unforgetable moment (for anyone), and 2) on our trip to purchase the cabin we were fortunate enough to locate a grizzly den high on a mountain slope and after watching through our scope for several hours the sow emerged with two cubs-of-the-year.

Also, the Park boundary is less than 1500 feet from the driveway and the North Entrance to Yellowstone is only 4-miles away. We wanted something close to the park but not overly commercialized or populated. This cabin was close, convenient and had the space we needed.

With 2 bedrooms (4 Double beds) and 2 full bathrooms, a full kitchen, dining area, living room and covered patio, we knew our needs were covered. Being able to share this property with others is exciting. Each trip to Yellowstone is different and offers a whole new experience. Whether you are coming for adventure, hiking, sight-seeing, fishing, wildlife viewing or photography this is the place to be!!

It was also important to me that we had a cabin where wildlife were welcome. Occassionally we will have bison, deer or elk in the yard and rarely a grizzly bear.

What makes this cabin unique

The unique benefits of The Grizzly Den cabin include the amazing views of Electric Peak and the Devils Slide. Located right on the Yellowstone Riverfront our guests are able to fish directly from the banks outside the cabin.

For those that enjoy walking, the Park boundary is just 1500 from the driveway and only 4 miles from the North Entrance to YNP at Gardiner.

The Grizzly Den cabin is open and available to reserve year-round and we encourage our guests to visit the Yellowstone National Park during different times of the year as each experience offers something new and different.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We wanted to thank you for a great week. It's heaven on earth there. I'm still blown away by the beauty. We feel like the herd of deer and antelope around there and blocking the road were our own pets. Your brochure had us excited, but the photos cannot do it justice. Just breathtaking beauty.

The town was great, we spent 3 days in the park and a lot of time hanging out together in the cabin. Don't get cable or satellite it was great just chilling and talking watching DVD movies.

It was a week we will never forget and that's not easy to do with a 13 year old who really didn't want to go and hang out with his parents for a week.

We had just a wonderful, wonderful time and will be telling all our family and friends about the great place we stayed.

Oh yes, we will be going back. Did I mention what a great time we had!

Thanks again for hosting a very memorable week!

Amazing

We had the most enjoyable experience! Our 13 year old says he had the best vacation of his life. The cabin is super close to Yellowstone and the views just sitting outside with the morning coffee and an evening drink are absolutely amazing. By the end of our stay we had adopted a herd of antelope and elk that we ran in to each day. There are many areas to access the river for fishing up and down Paradise Valley open to the public. Gardiner has everything you need, groceries, movies, restaurants, etc. You're out there, but not out of it. Unfortunately, work was easily accessible through the great internet connection. The cabin is clean and up to date with spacious rooms and comfortable beds, easy to navigate for those with mobility issues. Did I mention the views. The photos cannot do justice, you must experience this for yourself. A wonderful trip and we will be going back to the Grizzly Den to explore more of what Montana has to offer as soon as we can. Don't think about it, book it!

Great Haven on the Yellowstone River

  • 5 of 5
We spent 6 wonderful nights at the Grizzly Den. It was a great quiet place to come "home" to after our adventures in Yellowstone and surrounding areas. It's very close to the park, but, just far enough to get away from the hustle and bustle of the many other tourist. Sitting on the patio listening to the lull of the river run by was so relaxing each evening. This cabin has a well stocked kitchen, very comfortable beds and furnishings. The 2 baths and having a washer/dryer there in the cabin were a great plus. The owner Tammy was very easy to work with. The only downside(if you want to call it that) was there was no TV reception. But the cabin had WIFI and we were easily able to keep abreast of the weather and other things going on in the world if we chose to. There is a large collection of movies, films about Yellowstone, local wildlife, books of the same nature, and some games to enjoy. At night the stars are brilliant. During the day, the view of the surrounding mountains is ever changing with the suns position in the sky. I don't think there was one evening driving "home" that we didn't see antelope and/or some other type of wildlife along the gravel road to the cabin. We saw some most mornings also. There are several good places in Gardiner to have a meal and and/or a drink. There is also a very well stocked food market there in Gardiner that carries almost anything you could want or need. We drove up to to see the Montana Grizzly Encounter between Livingston and Bozeman then went on to Bozeman to the Walmart there one day. The drive there is beautiful through the mountains! Never thought I could have such an enjoyable trip to a Walmart. Ha! The Montana Grizzly Encounter is a great place to see the bears safely and up close. They share a wealth of knowledge about them there also. I highly recommend the Grizzly Den for anyone wanting to be right at Yellowstone, but, feel serenely far away.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Terri. We really are happy to hear you enjoyed your vacation and stay at the cabin. Thank you so much for the great review. The springtime is a really great time of year to stay as well - the animals really move around in late March/early April. Great time to see wildlife in abundance!!

Beautiful cabin on the Yellowstone River!

  • 5 of 5
We recently stayed at the Grizzly Den cabin on the Yellowstone River for our family vacation. This cabin exceeded my expectations for cleanliness and comfort!! The inside home decor was well done and artful. The views from the cabin were gorgeous, especially of the Yellowstone River and grazing pronghorns!!! The cabin is ideally located near the North entrance of Yellowstone Park. We would definitely stay here again!!! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!!!

We stayed nine days and was a beautiful place to stay. Tammy was wonderful to work with. We would rent movies in the evening from the little store in town or just sit out back and watch the river. Would definitely recommend this place and would go back again. It was added amenity to have a washer and dryer.

Serenity

  • 5 of 5
Spent a wonderful week here while exploring the park. Given its beautiful setting I almost felt guilty leaving the place to explore the park. Nicely situated on the river, it has a nice patio with lots of chairs, table and a couch to enjoy a meal or cocktail while watching the river. Although there are other cabins right next to it on either side, noise was never an issue. The cabin had all the amenities of home and could comfortably sleep 8. The only minor downside is that it is down a pretty long dirt road (3 or 5 miles, depending on which direction you're coming from). It wasn't an issue for us, but the road did have some significant washboard sections.
Would wholeheartedly recommend this place to others and look forward to staying again.

Owner's Response: We are so happy you enjoyed your stay at "The Grizzly Den" on the Yellowstone Riverfront. The County does a good job of maintaining the gravel road leading to the cabin from either direction. During the summer, after rains it can get a little wash-boarding and they come out to correct it.

Wonderful riverfront cabin!

  • 5 of 5
Recently stayed here with my daughter and a friend of ours. We loved staying here! The cabin faced the Yellowstone and had breathtaking mountains on all sides. The cabin was immaculate and had everything we could have wanted. The kitchen was furnished with everything one might want or need and we loved that it had a washer and dryer. It was very close to the North entrance of Yellowstone. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.
