Chalet was a perfect fit for our family celebrating my wife's birthday that weekend. Breathtaking views of the Presidential Range from the living room and deck command your attention. Comfortable accommodations for all 3 of my young adult children, my wife and I - with a bedroom to spare. This house has all the amenities needed for a weekend or a week-long stay. As a bonus this particular weekend, Mother Nature sprinkled a hint of snow on the highest summits to combine with near-peak foliage colors to make this a special time to be up there. Picturesque Jackson Village, with its shops, Inns and restaurants, was just down the hill and the White Mountain National Forest was just up route 16. There, we did some hiking, conquered the zipline at Wildcat Ski area, took the Gondola to the top to witness the stunning views, then retired to the warm, comforts of the chalet for an early dinner, a nice fire in the fireplace and a movie. The owner is a pleasure to work with. We greatly enjoyed our time here and would certainly stay again.
The only thing this place has going for it is the amazing view of the mountains. This house needs some major upgrades. The stove and some of the other items are very dated. The carpet in one of the basement rooms was damp with moisture from the garage (which is right on the other side). My family felt that it seemed very musty down there. I would say this would probably be a better winter place than summer, but overall I would say once upgrades and with a little TLC to the outside I would recommend this house. The owner was very nice and seemed concerned about some of the issues that came up. I would be willing to pay more per week if upgrades were made, but overall not a bad place.
My family and I really enjoyed how spacious this chalet is. The view of the Presidential range is amazing! Although there are other houses nearby, the road is very quiet since it is on a dead end. The kitchen was well stocked with all necessary utensils, dishes, pots, etc. Also, I was very happy to finally find a rental that has a big, comfortable sofa and not an old, worn out, uncomfortable sofa. The chalet is kept up very clean. If you are traveling with small children, you should bear in mind that one of the bedrooms is a loft and the other two bedrooms are two flights away. Then again your vacation may be more peaceful being farther away from your children!
The chalet is not far from Jackson Village, Storyland, and Wildcat. The drive up the hill is quite scenic. We really enjoyed our time here.
Our property is located high above the quaint town of Jackson. Once you drive through the historic covered bridge, head past the Wildcat Tavern and Yesterday's Restaurant, bearing right at the Jackson Grammar School. This is Rt 16B or Black Mountain Road. Head up the hill and take the first right past the Christmas Farm Inn, Tin Mine Road. Drive up the hill to the very end and take a right on Vista Way.
The Chalet is the last house on the left, 35 Vista Way.
