Desirable And Enchanting Where Modern Luxury Meets Delightful Old English Charm
‘When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life’. We here at Ivy Lettings all ascribe to this maxim, but we are also very much aware that everyone needs a place to call home to rest weary limbs after a long day visiting London, or to provide the necessary comforts in which to mull over the delights of a day spent soaking up the sights and sounds of the city. So we propose the delightful, exquisite Cadogan Place: the perfect marriage of understated British charm and upmarket London sophistication.
Set just off the well-heeled vistas of Sloane Square, overlooking immaculate private gardens, this might just be the most desirable address in London. To paraphrase the poet, dull would he be of soul who could pass by a front door so alluring in its eternal appeal -so step inside, and find all that you could wish for and more.
Living and eating
We were always told never to judge a book by its cover, and that all that glisters is not gold, but this beautiful property is certainly the exception to the rule. The wonderful symmetry and style of the exterior is matched, and possibly bettered, by the bewitching grace and charm of its interior. Tastefully decorated after an understated and refined pattern, a large sofa welcomes weary travellers, and a concert harp in the corner sets the tone for this harmonious open-plan living and dining area. An idiosyncratic and informed choice of books greet you, and an elegant dining table (seats 4) completes the picture of effortless class and timeless allure. A separate kitchen, well equipped with all the necessary culinary utensils, provides you with the luxury of being able to rustle up a cosy romantic meal, or an impressive repast for guests. The consummate host will feel utterly at home here, and all the elements for an idyllic London stay are present.
Bedrooms and baths
‘One cannot live well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well’. Too true; but a good dinner goes without saying here at Cadogan Place. So what about sleeping well?
A striking modern reinterpretation of the classic fairy-tale four-poster awaits you in the master bedroom. Its King-sized splendour beckons irresistibly; fall into it, and sleep the sleep of the blessed.
A modern perfection of an en-suite, complete with a stylish – and luxurious! – free-standing bath, lavatory, lavabo and stand-up shower unit, provides you with all the necessary comforts for your stay.
Access and suitability
This property would be particularly suitable for couples over in the capital for a romantic break, and is set on the second floor, with a short flight of steps, and elevator access up to the property.
Knightsbridge and Belgravia are synonymous with upper class London sophistication and glamour, and this area is the ideal situation for those who wish to make the most of the city’s attractions, whilst simultaneously having the luxury of being very central and no more than 15 minutes away by tube or bus from central London and the West End.
A five minute walk from the Sloane Square underground station, you will find yourself a short walk from Harrods on one end of the Square, and the Kings Road, with its multitude and variety of high street shops and boutiques, eclectic bars and sophisticated restaurants. For those of a Thespian bent, the Royal Court theatre is just on Sloane Square, and on Saturdays at the nearby Duke of York Square, a gastronomically cosmopolitan food market will hold all foodies in its thrall. The Saatchi gallery, a few minutes away, will delight all art fans, and a short and picturesque walk will take you down onto Chelsea embankment and the Thames, to the foot of the iconic Albert Bridge.
For those who like to look beneath the surface to the layers of layers of London history, which have built up over the centuries, this is a wonderful area to explore. Discover Crosby Hall, on Cheyne Walk, which was moved brick by brick from its original location in Bishopsgate, Thomas More’s house and an eternal monument to the ‘man for all seasons’; wander a little further down to what was once Henry VIII’s manor house (19 – 26 Cheyne Walk) and drink in the echoes of its old residents, from Katherine Parr (to whom Henry gave the house as a wedding present) to the tragic Lady Jane Grey, the nine – day Queen.
The nearest tube station is Sloane Square, a 5 minute walk away and there are various bus routes from the doorstep to the rest of the city.
We politely ask clients to note the following:
Minimum length of stay: 5 nights
Maximum party size: 2
Only couples over age 30 and families
No children under 10
