Welcome to Serenity ! A unique opportunity to stay at a privately owned historical country estate on Burns Lake. This lovely two level gate house cottage is at the entrance to the old Majors Estate. It is set back from its own 280 ft. of lake frontage. Built in 7 acres of private landscaped grounds with great views from both the gardens and house. Why not try the hot tub in the lakefront screen house. Use of our own tennis court & basketball net. Separate games room with pool table, table tennis & other games. This is an ideal luxurious retreat offering peace and quiet yet within easy reach of some of West Michigan's finest attractions. The main house is also in our ownership so you are free to explore all that this great estate has to offer. Canoe and paddle boats provided to get close to nature both on the lake or at the edge of the adjacent Manistee National Forest. Good fishing for both Bass and Pan fish and of course lake swimming if you wish.

Burns Lake prohibits motors but access is available to the adjacent lake which allows the use of both motor boats and jet skis. A short drive to Michigan's Adventure Amusement and Water Park. Beautiful Lake Michigan beaches 20 minutes away. Several outstanding public golf courses. Horse riding and thoroughbred racing close by. Silverside WWII Submarine Tours, Muskegon and White Lake Summer Festivals including excellent theater and concerts. Dune Buggy Rides and Trails. Fall season offers local color tours with winter season skiing, tubing, snow shoeing and snowmobiling, snowfests all within easy reach.

We give the cottage on Burns Lake our highest rating! Everything was delightful--the cottage itself, the grounds, the game room, the lake, and of course, our gracious hosts!

No motors are allowed on the lake, and it is just the right size for taking out the (provided) canoe and paddleboat. It is also quiet, with about half the shoreline bordered by the National Forest. Our 5 year old daughter caught scads of panfish and small bass, much to her delight!

The kids also couldn't get enough of the game room; we often had to pull them away from pool and air hockey to enjoy the "real" world.

And enjoy it we did! From pristine Pere Marquette Beach, to the giant dunes of Silver Lake, to the Coast Guard festival in Grand Haven, to the tranquility of Burns Lake itself, we were never at a loss for something keep us entertained.

Our sincere thanks to John and Jan for making our stay a wonderful experience.

Cozy Home

This home is very cozy and has all the ammenedities that you have at home.

The wifi signal can't be reached at the cottage, you need to go to the game room to access the internet, which is located up at the main house. Everything else is exactly as the description states.

The home was in good condition. We were frustrated with the fact that we were unable to stay outside for very long as we were being attacked by the black flies and ants, you must bring your bug spray.

The canoe, paddleboat and game room are kid size and not comfortable for adults. Lake access and hot tub access are not private.

Must see: go to Silver Lake to see the Sand Dunes!!

A Little piece of Heaven on Earth

This cottage and the property are truly a little piece of heaven on earth. There is so much to see and do right on the property and the scenery is breathtaking. You can go on Burns Lake and enjoy fishing, boating and swimming. Our children loved the game room which keep them busy for hours. The grounds are well kept and great for a playing sports of any kind, cooking out or relaxing in the gazebo.

The cottage itself is very beautiful and cozy. The perfect place to relax at the end of the day. You can also relax in the hot tub that looks out on Burns Lake. The scenery is breathtaking and very picturesque.

John and Jan are excellent host. They were always available and willing to do what ever they could to make our stay a pleasant one. John even took time to teach our children how to bait a fishing pole and showed them how to cast the line. We could not ask for better host. They, along with their son Tristan, were charming and gracious hosts.

The best part about the cottage is the privacy. When you rent the cottage you have the entire place to yourself. Our family looks forward to coming back to this little piece of heaven next year and we believe you will enjoy it as well.
