Dreamland
It has always been a pleasure to stay at the Pond's house. Actually, we found the place so wonderful that we came there several times all the way from Paris France. Many friends of ours have been staying there as well with great pleasure.
The place makes you feel relax and quiet, the environment is beautiful and poetic. You can hear the calming sound of the sea from the lanai. Having breakfast there, surrounded by palm trees is a pure delight. The house itself is pleasant and confortable. The owners know everything about the Hawaians, their culture and habits. They are the most welcoming persons I know. They are very good advisers about activities you may wish to practice, or any good spots in the island.
The lagoon is a three minutes walk from the property, and there is a marvellous hot pond 7 minutes by car - nice hot water with waves coming from the sea renewing and refreshing the pool . You can get there any time you want, specially at the end of the day, when tired or stressed...Also a sheer delight.
To go shopping or to restaurants, you need to go to the village (Pahoa), which is nice and holds a popular and animated market on Sundays. I just love buying goodies there! Besides the town of Hilo (the administrative capital) is not that far. The impressive park with the volcanoes is very accessible from this property.
My only dislike is about mosquitoes and their bites, they are small and quick, and they love you...
l warmly recommend this vacation rental
Owner's Response: A recent guest at the 'Pond House' asked me if I ever had guests stay here that I would not rent to again. I thought about their question, thought about the many guests that have come to stay here over the eighteen years that I have had a vacation rental, and said, “ I have been extremely lucky”! Not only have people who come to vacation here been very nice people but many have become friends. We have shared the same interests of nature, simple yet inviting and comfortable accommodation, and the love of local culture. 'The Pond House' is like a place of 'coming together' for people who stay here. Many guests tell me they feel the peace and quiet of 'The Pond House', of nature's beauty, of Kapoho and of Hawaii. I feel very fortunate to be able to share this 'aloha' via the 'Pond House'.
As for the mosquitos...I always say,” This is the tropics, it comes with the beautiful nature that surrounds us in Hawaii'. “ While the little' mossies', as in many places, mostly come out in late afternoon for a few hours... the screened- in lanai creates a wonderful room to keep the 'mossies' outside and outdoor living inside, to enjoy nature in peace and harmony.
A very warm mahalo to Claudine L's family, for writing about their memories of staying here many times over the years, coming all the way from Paris France. You came as guests and left as friends. Aloha, Jan
