We were directed to Las Olivas by the letting agents in Jalon when our first choice was unavailable and we are so glad!
If I have one criticism about the description of Las Olivas it's that it doesn't describe the beauty and spaciousness of the property. The photos make the place appear to be perched up a mountain, whereas it is nestled in lovely trees and bushes. The view is a joy and we must have stayed up at every hour of the night to catch the sunset, the star-filled nights, the dawn and even shooting stars.
It's also the first place we've stayed where you have to go for a walk to let people know dinner is ready!
The accomodation was all we could expect and more, although we didn't really stay inside much except to watch the huge plasma tv in the heat of the day. The pool and garden are incredibly spacious as well as beautiful - the scents of jasmine and honeysuckle were still in our clothes on our return journey.
The area is utterly peaceful, though the neighbours invited us for drinks as we were walking down the hill to eat at the most accommodating restaurant you could wish for - it was closing until we turned up! It is possible and pleasant to walk through the vine groves to Lliber where you can apparently get basics in the shop but we couldn't find the shop! As the supermarket in Jalon is five minutes away by car, this wasn't too upsetting.
Our thanks too to Gill and husband, who were incredibly helpful and on the spot when there was a problem with the garden irrigation system. She also told us to stay on a while on our last day as there was nobody moving in and she thought we would be happier doing that than dragging our luggage round town.
The Jalon Valley is really not far from the bustle of the coast but it's a breath of fresh air. There are a lot of British people resident there and I don't blame them! We had a wonderful time and we will be back!
