We loved this place.

  • 5 of 5
This was the perfect place for our large family. It was clean and spacious. We appreciated the large kitchen with 2 refrigerators and 2 stoves and a table around which we could all fit! I am a gardener, and I loved the landscaping and flowers. We liked the quietness of Hancock Point -- not touristy like many parts of coastal Maine. The beach was very close and our children and grandchildren actually went swimming in the chilly waters of Maine! We liked the library very much -- we are readers. We have a family vacation every 2 years and have been doing this for many years. This home was by far the nicest one we have found. I also appreciated very much the kindness and availability (by phone) of the owners and the availability of the caretaker. It was a very special week for our entire family and we are grateful. Great place to relax!

  • 5 of 5
Loved this house! We came with an extended family (plus some strays) group of 12 and I was worried that we'd feel crowded. But the house is large enough, and has huge decks so everyone could spread out. The kids loved the huge yard and running down the hill to the beach. We loved that they had a place to burn off energy. The kitchen was large enough to hold our group, and the 2 stoves and 2 refrigerators were perfect. I liked that there was a separate dining room which had another large table that we used for puzzles and games. The owner was easy to reach and was very kind about answering all of my questions b/4 we came. We were fortunate enough to have perfect weather. Now I just have to figure out a time to make a return visit.

Nice Vacation Home

  • 4 of 5
This is by far the best house we have rented. It was clean, had plenty of room for all 14 of us, was fully stocked with towels and linens and with two refrigerators and two stoves in the kitchen, we did not lack for space in the kitchen. It was a short walk down to the water, which was beautiful. We found small starfish in the water and even a full grown one. It was close enough to town to go get groceries and there was a home about 5 miles from the house that sold lobster very cheap. We visited Bar Harbor and Acadia Nation Park and went into the town of Ellsworth one day. The house is even close to a hospital, which we needed one day. The only thing I would say went wrong was the day we tried to grill and found out the gas grill did not work and the library with the wi-fi was not as friendly as it was made to sound. The drive was long but we would definitely come back again as it was one of best vacations.

Fantastic Family Retreat

  • 4 of 5
I stayed here four summers running and can't say enough good things about this property and Hancock Point. If you seek an expansive family home with historic charm and comfort--a "real" Downeast experience--this is an ideal destination. Hancock Point is remote and peaceful, with a charming library, post office, tennis courts and "yacht club." (If you're lucky, your visit will coordinate with the club's blueberry pancake breakfast.) The kitchen in this property is wonderful when cooking for a crowd, and the adjacent butler's pantry has its own sink--a nice backup. With front stairs and back stairs and multiple bedrooms and decks, it's a paradise for children.

Great house!

  • 4 of 5
Our family of 14 stayed here the week of 8/9/10 and had a great time.
Plenty of room for everyone and nice location near Bar Harbor and Schoodic point 40 minutes away.
There was little bicycle garage (George's) nearby that let us use bicycles for free if we could make a minor repair.

Perfect for a family gathering

  • 5 of 5
I rented this house with two sisters and our families (13 of us in all) for a week in Aug/Sept 2009. The house is just as advertised with lots of room for entertaining, both inside and out. We were on Hancock Point for a wedding and had over 30 people for dinner twice during our stay. The kitchen was very well equipped. The owner was most helpful and truthful with info about the house and activities in the area. We had good weather, but this is a house which could accommodate a crowd on a rainy day. This is a great house for people who want to enjoy the pleasures Down East Maine has to offer without spending alot of time in front of the TV or in the bathroom.
