Very Nice Place!

We have been going to Stowe for many years. In fact, I proposed to my wife 15 years ago at an old family place up on Edson Hill, so it has a special place in our hearts. Stowe is a great place to visit in nearly any season; this year we had an opportunity to visit for the foliage over Columbus Day weekend. As first time renters of this house, all family members agree it is a beautiful place to stay! The house is very clean, very well appointed and located in the perfect spot for access to both the mountain and town.
The kitchen is spotless with all the essential gear for preparing meals. There is a long table (longer than the one in the picture) that easily accommodated 8 of us. The gas fireplace/stove was simple to use and kept the whole place warm. The beds are new, mattresses comfortable, linens new and clean; plenty of extra pillows so you can find just the right one. Bathrooms are large and clean. Upstairs Jacuzzi tub was a real bonus after a long hike and ride!
The house is just a few minutes to Smuggler's Notch just up the Mountain Road. From there we hiked to Sterling Pond; if you have not done it, you absolutely must. Bring your camera, and make sure you follow the trail beyond the pond to the chair lift (Sterling Lift) at the top of the mountain and the views are like none other! Following the Mountain Road back down into town, the house is just minutes from all of the best restaurants Stowe has to offer. Since we have young kids we stick to casual places like Gracie's or the Shed. We were VERY disappointed that Miguel's is closed, but rumor says it will reopen in '09. Also, the house is just a 1/5 mile from the start of the Stowe Rec Path, used for biking and walking. We are big into biking and it was great to not have to load the bikes in the car and have to drive them to the trail!
Another key feature was the property. There is a small pond on the property and my son was so excited about this because he loves to play with his remote controlled boats, so we brought them up and had a blast racing them around the pond! As well, there is a beautiful river/stream just beyond the tree line behind the house that adds to the peace and serenity of the home.
All in all, we had a very positive experience and for our next trip to Stowe we will definitely rent this home again. I would recommend this home as a great place to stay to anyone who is interested in experiencing all that Stowe has to offer.
