Welcome to Little Fireweed Cottage, Homer, Alaska. We strive to ensure that your experience at our cottage is one that stays with you forever. Whether you are in Homer just to relax and soak in the breathtaking views or here to dive into the multitude of outdoor activities this unique area of the world offers, we are confident that your stay at Little Fireweed Cottage will be one of the highlights of your trip.

Before we discovered the jewel that is Homer, we traveled around the world and stayed in many vacation homes along the way. We have taken many of those things, which we enjoyed the most when staying in those homes and have tried to incorporate them into our vacation rental.

Just recently built in 2006 on one and a half private acres, Little Fireweed Cottage was made to serve as a retreat and a home-away-from-home for those traveling for the 'Homer experience'. After a long day of fishing for halibut, sightseeing, or hiking, come home to cook up your seafood just the way you like it on the barbecue grill.

Pour yourself a glass of wine from one of our bottles on site and ponder whether it is time to melt away in the very brand new hot tub with its grand views or whether that should wait until after the movie you are going to watch on the flat-screen TV/home theater. If you're a night owl, there's always the fire pit up on the hill, with the swinging chair that turns into a bed.

We know that everyone has their own ways of doing 'vacation'. With that said, we believe that in whatever way you seek to find ultimate relaxation, Little Fireweed Cottage will serve you wonderfully in that endeavor.

About Ailsa or Tyson Hall

My wife is from New Brunswick, Canada and I am from Palmer, Alaska. Growing up six hours away in the Matanuska Valley, I always loved the opportunity to get down to Homer to visit my family there. Since a very young age, Homer has held a very special place in my heart. I have traveled to nearly 40 different countries around the world but I have yet to see a place that matches the majesty of Homer, Alaska.

Be sure to take a trip across the bay if you come all this way. It's really a wonderful experience.

Why Ailsa or Tyson Hall chose Homer

Ever since I was 13, it has been a dream of mine to own a piece of Homer. That dream came true in 2006! We were able to grab a great in-town lot with a wonderful view of Kachemak Bay! We built the cottage the same year we bought the land. We feel truly blessed!

What makes this cottage unique

The reason we got into Vacation Rentals is because we have stayed in many ourselves and like the idea of staying in a private home instead of a noisy, crowded hotel. As a result of those visits at various rentals across the nation, we came up with four very important qualities that we look for when booking a Vacation Rental and incorporated them into ours. They are, 1) The lodging must be private, 2) It must be close to the town you are visiting, 3) It must have a HOT-TUB!!, 4) If applicable, it must have a view.

We have all four!! We are only two miles from lovely Homer, on almost one and a half private acres, with a great view that you can soak in while in the wonderful hot-tub!

We are proud of our cozy little cottage in Homer and are so confident that it will exceed your expectations and serve to be the retreat you need after coming all this way.

    Please be aware of protective mamma moose and their calves that often frequent the property. They are quicker than they look and have been known to charge when feeling threatened. Also, there are plenty of Black Bears in the area during certain times of the season. Apply common sense here and put your garbage in the 'bear bin' at the top of the driveway. :)

Charming, Cozy Cottage!

A peaceful, cozy retreat awaits you! We booked the cottage for our honeymoon and had a blast using the hot tub, cooking meals in the modern, clean kitchen, and just unwinding from a very whirlwind wedding! The location (located within the bounds of Homer, close to everything, yet far enough from the hub-bub to feel peaceful). The cottage looks out over Homer Bay which is a huge plus as we really enjoyed having that scenery while hot tubbing. We also enjoyed the fire put up a little ways from the cottage...

The bedding was immaculate - very comfortable beds and bedding which made for massive rest and rejuvenation. Which we desparately needed. Showers were great too (spacious, modern, tons of hot water, no issues, just wonderfulness) which is huge.

Loved the big classy wine goblets and decorating!

Overall a great place for a honeymoon!

Great house with fabulous views! Loved it!

When I arrived at Little Fireweed Cottage, I was pleasantly surprised at the tasteful decor and homey feel. The cottage has everything you could possibly need to prepare a great meal, and its fabulous to have a washer and dryer. The view of kachemak bay from the hot tub is fabulous. I enjoyed relaxing there with a glass of wine. Convenient to a grocery store, restaurants, and shops, the cottage is in a great location. There are houses nearby so it is not completely private. The only suggestion I have is to put in some concrete pavers to provide access from the driveway to the door. The Spring thaw has started and it was extremely muddy and hard to carry in my suitcase. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay!

This was actually the earliest in the season that we have ever been open. We usually wait for the weather to turn, at which time the driveway returns to its normal state. Perfect vacation home

This cozy cottage was immaculately clean, very comfortable for the 3 of us, and very conveniently located. Soaking in the hot tub under the stars was heavenly. (The cover was a little hard to deal with, but otherwise easy instructions.) The washer and dryer came in very handy. The owners were very helpful and friendly. Their laminated notebook of helpful information about the cottage and the area was perfect. I highly recommend this wonderful cottage, as well as Homer- what a great, eclectic and unique town.

Normally, we just camp out on the spit - but we were in Homer to celebrate a special occasion so we decided to treat ourselves to something extraordinary. We couldn't ask for anything more. We were 100% impressed from the moment we pulled up. The ONLY thing that could have made this trip better was if we could stay longer! Thank you for the wonderful experience and memories.
