Located on 250 acres in tranquil Northeast Connecticut, Markover is a private upland bird hunting preserve in the fall and winter, but in the spring and summer it is available for family enjoyment. The new 1300 sf post and beam lodge sleeps up to 10 people (4 in the loft), has a full kitchen, a massive stone fireplace and bar in the comfortable great room, the two covered porches with rockers allow enjoyment of sunrises and sunsets. Hiking and mountain biking trails transverse the property and the spring fed pond provides fishing, canoeing, and swimming for all family members, including the pets. Only 2 miles from Rt 395, the casinos are 30 minutes away, antiquing in Putnam is 10 minutes away, Old Sturbridge Village is 30 minutes away, Mystic Seaport is 40 minutes away. Enjoy the Woodstock and Brooklyn Fairs in late summer.

Wonderful place to stay!!

We had a wonderful time staying at the Lodge. The inside is rustic and beautiful and has everything you need (just bring washcloths/hand towels). The pond was great for my dogs to swim in and we had fun paddling around in the canoes. Supermarket/Target/Gas...all kind of stores are just 10 minutes away. Sushi place was delicious. Kevin is a great host - promptly answers the phone for any questions you might have. Plan to stay there again next summer. Definitely a place for peace and quiet!!

PEACEFUL, PRIVATE, PLEASURABLE

The pics does not do this place justice. You have to see it to believe it. The property is exclusively private(1/4 mile off quiet road). You cannot hear or see any cars passing(you will doubt you are so close to everything i.e. target, dunkin donuts, burger king, grocery stores, cvs, shopping complex with restaurants-seriously, all just 5-7 mins from property)-lake is great and for your personal use only (no other people use it). Beautiful lawn around 2/3 of the lake(great for picnic and lots of space for games). Fishing, swimming and rowing around is great fun. Numerous hiking trails available(don't get lost-alot of land). Owners are awesome and very accomodating based on your needs. We have left NY-Brooklyn to go there 3 times in the last 15 months. GREAT if PRIVATE vacation is what you are looking for.

Awesome cabin in the woods.

The pictures don't do this place justice. The cabin is very nice inside, and the property is perfect for getting away from it all and relaxing in the woods with tons of room to roam. If you're at all an outdoorsy kind of person, you'll love this cabin. If you need all of the ammenities of a luxury hotel, this isn't your place, but if you like rustic country charm you'll be right at home here.

We stayed here for a week with four kids ranging in age from 2 to 10 years old, and everyone enjoyed the stay. We took walks to the pond, paddled the canoe and rowboat around, roasted marshmallows on the campfire one night, and spent several evenings just sitting out on the porch. This is a very quiet and relaxing place to just chill out, or to use as a base camp for sightseeing in beautiful New England as we did. And the owners are extremely friendly and accomodating. We highly recommend this location.

Cozy Cabin

Stayed here two summers ago while visiting family to have my Wedding in my home state. The owner was so accommodating and the property was perfect for my rehearsal BBQ! Took the dogs in the pond on the property and had night time campfires. Perfect getaway, highly recommended! Calling to book again for this Summer : )

Memorial Day Weekend at Markover

My family and I recently spent Memorial Day weekend at the Markover hunting lodge. We had a reunion to attend nearby and we were looking for convenient, clean lodging.
Markover hunting lodge provided this and much more!
The lodge itself provided most comfortable accomodations, keeping its rustic nature while providing the modern amenities.
We especially enjoyed the porch with the gliders and the trails for walking! Another delightful surprise was the beautiful pond, such a peaceful spot!
The lodge is easily accessible to shopping, some dining and the highway.
The owner is very welcoming and helpful.
We very much enjoyed our weekend at Markover and we hope to return again!
