Lobster Cove Ext. York Beach cottage

This lovely cottage is immaculately clean and in a wonderful location. Although it is an easy walk to Long Sands Beach and accessible to Rte 1A, it sits on a quiet dead end road. We enjoyed evenings on the deck or screened porch undisturbed by traffic noise, etc. and a nearby path provided access to another quiet pebble beach. It is also close to York Harbor, a scenic area which allows for a pleasant walk.
The cottage is nicely furnished and beds are comfortable, and ceiling fans are more than adequate for cooling and comfortable sleeping on the very infrequent warm night in Maine. The kitchen includes all modern appliances (including a dishwasher) and the bathroom appears to be newly remodeled, and fresh and clean. All the rooms are well maintained and freshly painted. It is really a very comfortable cottage for our family of 5 on a beach vacation. There are plenty of amenities (both in the cottage and surrounding area) for a teenager and two college students: 2 televisions, new with large screen in the living room, music, wireless, etc. My family enjoys the skim boarding and boogie boarding on Long Sands Beach and amusements in the village. Shopping in the Kittery outlets and the historic sites in York Harbor and Portsmouth are just a short drive from the cottage. Surfing lessons, kayak rentals and other boating are available in York and surrounding towns. Restaurants abound in the area, and the seafood is wonderful. Did I mention delicious, locally-made ice cream, spectacular views of the ocean, and a famous lighthouse? York has these, as well.
Our little terrier enjoys his vacations here as well - dogs are permitted on York Beach in the early morning and in the evenings.
The owners are always prompt in their responses to our questions or concerns, and accessible by phone and e-mail. The description and photos of this charming cottage are accurate. I would wholeheartedly recommend this property to friends and family. We have vacationed in Maine for more than 20 years, and this is one of the nicest places we have rented. For the past 2 summers (2007 and 2008) we have spent a week at this lovely cottage, and we look forward to our vacation there in 2009.
