A Perfect Thanksgiving Weekend

The day after Thanksgiving, with packed turkey sandwiches, my husband, daughter and I arrived at our carriagehouse away from home and from that moment on we were in holiday heaven. The house was very comfortable and well kept. The master bedroom had a comfortable bed with plenty of warm blankets and room for clothing. My daughter loved the loft upstairs. The only minor issue was that the bathroom was a little snug but that really was not a major concern. The kitchen had all the gadgets, plates, pots and pans we needed. And then there was the view...well, the only thing I can say is, I had trouble trying to concentrate on reading my book due to the wonderful distractions going on outside. There were waves and breakers, seagulls and ducks and other types of birds to watch, there were lobsterboats and fishing boats and the most beautiful sunrises. The owners were very nice and we even had a visit from the very friendly resident dog. The carriagehouse was very convenient to restaurants and activities. We had a great time at the lighting of Nubble Light House and did some holiday shopping in Kittery. We took a sidetrip to Portland to go on the "Polar Express" train ride and of course, had to go to the Shipyard Brewing Co. while we were there. All in all, we had a wonderful time that weekend and are hoping to make it somewhat of a tradition. I would definitely recommend the carriage house and would stay there again anytime we are in the York area.
