Beautiful Cabin!!

Me and my wife spent our two week honeymoon there and its a very nice, clean cabin. The weather was absolutely beautiful most of the time. Even when it rained a few mornings, the mist in the thick balsam firs was very nice to look at and the air smells so clean and fresh in Maine! The canoe that we could use whenever we wanted was a very nice as well, we saw an eagle and some loons most times we were out. Lots to do, we spent a few days in Acadia National Park (about 45 minutes away) and a few days just driving around to all the stores and restaurants in the area. We would highly recommend this area and this cabin to any of our friends....and wouldn't need much of an excuse to go back!!
Owner's Response: This lovely new couple really seemed to understand the quiet beauty of Toddy Pond and our glorious Blue Hill Peninsula. I enjoyed chatting with them and helping with things to do in our area. I would be delighted to have them return and am thankful for the kind words.

Goldilocks eat your heart out

When Goldilocks went looking for adventure, she missed the opportunity we found at Bonnie and Tom’s woodland cabin, Bear’s Den
To call this holiday home a cabin does not begin to do it justice. This is no ordinary woodland hideaway.
Arriving at the property, the beautiful forest home could easily lead you to believe you have been transported to the land of your childhood fairy tales . When lit in the moonlight, the cabin takes on a magical quality which can only further ignite the memories of story books.
Inside does not disappoint either. The full height vaulted ceiling to the loft bedroom creates an impression of still being among the tallest trees in the forest.
The owners have also managed to create smaller cosy areas downstairs should you need to feel reassured and safe.
Although we heard night time sounds of forest wild life, they all kept hidden from our view. Bonnie and Tom made sure we didn’t forget our closest neighbours though by providing every imaginable reminder of who we were sharing our surroundings with. Furnishings, nik naks, books and games were cleverly and humorously woodland themed.
The cabin also wanted for nothing in terms of day to day comforts and aids to modern living and, unlike Goldilocks’ experience, the beds were all extremely comfortable.
Above all, we must highlight the personal attention and concern for our welfare Bonnie and Tom showed throughout our stay.
They were easily contactable day and night, friendly and approachable, helpful and responsive to our queries and needs and even took time to advise us of “not to miss” places to visit during our stay.
This was a very happy woodland tale. We highly recommend you take a look.

Owner's Response: We thoroughly enjoyed this lovely family from Scotland. I am always delighted when folks enjoy out cottages. This is not the first reference to Goldilocks that we have had about Bear's Den. It brings me joy knowing memories are made here.

Bear's Den is Delightful

Bear's Den is Delightful

My two teenage children and I thoroughly enjoyed our week at Bear's Den. It is a short drive to Blue Hill where we have family. The cabin is absolutely immaculate-you wouldn't know you were "camping" in the thick Maine woods. My first priority was having a kitchen that I could cook lobster, clams and mussels--no problems here! Toddy Pond is beautiful, especially at night with the sounds of the loons and frogs, but bug repellent is a must! I highly recommend Bear's Den.

Owner's Response: I'm always happy to hear when folks enjoy my cottage. I do my best to make it comfortable and nice and am always willing to "tweek" things if something is needed.
Yes, July can be buggy in the evenings. It's always a good idea to bring bug repellent, but I usually provide some for my guests to use as well.
Thanks to you for the nice review! It is much appreciated!

we stayed at the sister unit the "Crow's Nest" we stayed there last year as well. The unit is impeccable with a full kitchen, dish washer and washer and dryer. Our hosts were wonderful to deal with and very helpful. I can heartily recomend this unit and it is a wonderful area, with fair and honest owners to deal with.

Goldielocks never had it so good

I cannot imagine a more peaceful/relaxing vacation spot than Bear’s Den. I was relieved after a long day’s drive to find our destination to be a picture out of a fairy tale book. The cabin, besides appointments rivaling the best B&Bs, is decorated with bear statues, pottery and pictures. Our grand children, who we had come to visit, were delighted, and made a game of counting all the different references to bears there were.
We were also delighted with how the cabin had an initial supply of many items not always available in a rental, such as sugar, spices and condiments.
Although Toddy Pond is situated in a very active part of the Maine coast, on the Blue Hill Peninsula and near Acadia National Park, the pond is peaceful and low key. We got in the habit of paddling our kayaks in the morning and happened on large numbers of loons “rafting”. We had many eagle and osprey sightings as well. In the evenings we took out the provided canoe to observe the sunsets.
The owners provided brochures and made recommendations that gave us an endless amount of activities to enjoy when we weren’t with family. We plan to return, if not to continue exploring the area that is rich in the arts and recreational opportunities, then to again drift off to sleep with the loons’ enchanting calls echoing off the water.
