The Whale of a View Cottage is nestled in the woods sitting directly above the Passamaquoddy Bay. Located on Campobello Island, home of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Summer home and International Park, the cottage offers spectacular and close-up views of whales, eagles, seals, porpoises, ospreys and other wildlife from the house or the beautiful screened in Gazebo atop a cliff overlooking the water. Enjoy sunbathing and the beautiful sunsets on the deck attached to the Gazebo. Watch sailboats, fishing and cargo ships pass right outside your window. A working fishing weir is located in the ocean in front of the cottage. It is a special and private retreat. The cottage is within walking distance of the most photographed lighthouse in New Brunswick and connected by bridge to the US mainland at Lubec, Maine. Head Harbor Wharf is within walking distance for Whale Watch and fishing trips as well as to watch the local fisherman at work. This cute house is fully furnished as a vacation home.

It is located on beautiful Campobello Island where the beloved summer home of Franklin Delano Roosevelt is open as a museum and sits surrounded by stunningly beautiful hiking trails and interesting beaches in the Roosevelt International Park. Campobello Island is connected by bridge to the US mainland at Lubec, Maine 04652 zip code.

The property has a flat lot so that a car can pull up to the entrance of the house, also the lawn is overlooking the ocean and is appropriate for tents for camping.

For overflow crowds, there is an additional quaint private cottage next door that sleeps 2-3 with a beautiful oceanfront view and large deck.

Have a large family? Rent the Whale of a View and the Sea Urchin next door! Both cottages are private and located on their own private 3 acres. They are connected by a trail along the shore through the woods. Also available for rental is a charming two-room cabin nestled in the woods between the Sea Urchin and the Whale of a View.

Within 2 1/2 hour drive to Bar Harbor, Maine. Campobello Island is connected by bridge to Lubec, Maine, home of the renowned candy-striped West Quioddy Head Lighthouse, on the easternmost point of the United States. Ferry connects Campobello Island to Deer Island, Grand Manans, St Andrews - a world-class Canadian resort. It sports a deck across the back and along the side of the cabin with a beautiful ocean view. Enjoy dining outside and watching the marine and bird life on the deck. This cabin has a living room/dining room/kitchen combination and a bedroom with a full size bed and a bath room. Also the screened in Gazebo is a great place to sleep.

We stayed at the Perriwinkle Cottage adjacent to the cottage displayed, owned by the same. It was more than I could have asked for! So much more than I can write in this review. Highlights of our stay were definately sitting on the adirondak chairs just above the water when I seen my first ever whale (finback I believe). 3 times in one evening I spotted the whales, along with schools of porpoises and the many osprey. If you have ever heard the sound of a whale it is the most majestic and commanding sound I have ever heard. The island people will remain in our hearts, and this cottage on Campbello will definately be a yearly tradition now that we have found this gem. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the property who was the most gracious and kind gentleman we had encountered during our entire vacation. If I could sum up our stay in one word it would have to be...humbling.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
