Beautiful setting in the pines by the saltwater Union River Bay. The house faces west for great sun and incredible sunsets. Conveniently located less than 10 miles from Mt. Desert Island, the gateway to Acadia National Park. Less than 5 miles to Ellsworth and the crossroads to Downeast Maine. The private 5 bedroom, 2 bath home sleeps 14 has a large open kitchen, dining area inside by French doors or outside area under the pines. Enjoy an outdoor fire pit or a fire in the wood stove with a fire screen. Well behaved dogs are allowed, must be dried off before entering house though. No puppies.

This beautiful cottage style home is located right on the edge of the Union River Bay ( 75') in a quiet woodsy setting. It boasts the best of both waterfront and Maine woods living. Enjoying the outdoors from the 2 decks facing the water, outdoor patio and fire pit area or beach front allow for versatility in enjoying this unique waterfront home. It may be difficult to pull yourself away to travel to Acadia. However, if venturing to Acadia is what you want, it is less than a thirty minute drive to Park Headquarters and entry into the wonders of Acadia. Less than 5 minutes to the convenience of downtown Ellsworth where you can find, restaurants, entertainment, health care, grocery and health food stores and shopping including the infamous L.L. Bean outlet.

This house was really great for my entire family. The open concept living room and kitchen were perfect for our dinners/movie watching at night. The beach was great for the kids to keep them busy and fun for them too. I would definitely go back there again.

Spacious house, eagles, loons, lapping waves

We rented the house for 2 weeks. It was just what we expected - bigger actually. Every room has a remarkable view of the water! We sat on the back deck often, just looking out at the bay. We saw an eagle flying or perching daily. We saw a pair of pileated woodpeckers. There is a short path down to the water. I have balance/infirmity issues, and was able to go down the path if assisted by my husband or daughter. Meanwhile, my family rented kayaks for a week and had them delivered right to the house and they brought them down to the water via the path. The water is very, very close, you can see the tides, and can hear the lapping of waves when you sleep. We also had smores and roasted marshmallows at the fire pit. The owners installed a DVD player just in time for our arrival and we were very grateful for that. Our two teenagers also liked having their own rooms, sleeping in, having satellite TV, and of course the kayaking and fire pit. And, enough couch room for everyone!

John Edwards store in Ellsworth is a very nice grocery store - had options for vegans and vegetarians, and wine and cheese lovers. Calypso and Cleonice Mediterranean Bistro are two excellent restaurants in Ellsworth. Day trips to Blue Hill, Southwest Harbor, Arcadia trails...
